We've been poor since he went down.
He's a born decision maker and completely ice cold in the clutch.
Those kind of players are very, very, very rare.
I'd keep him over Walker. Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe

As for weight; Teddy is listed as 95kgs but I wouldn’t be putting him into the forwards.
It was just an observation having stood in line with him at a pub.

Walker and DCE combo will see the slow mo passing x2 as per Kearys passing game. The slow mo with a flat attack since Walkers return has seen our outside players get hammered as per Crichton and rarely gets any wider as the slow mo pass creates no time or space. The opposition know it with Walker as they did with Keary.
Hugos passes are bullets and his kicks the bomb.Last edited by bondi paul; 08-01-2025, 03:37 PM.

Savala I’m hoping is one of those success stories where they just come out of nowhere to be great players. Jahromes Hughes and Luai are two recent examples where they were in the shadows of more coveted and well known halves. Toby Rodwell looks really good and he’s another one that has huge wraps on him so will be interesting how that all pans out.
Just looking at him, Hugo has all the tools to be a top top player in the future. The size, the temperament, the fundamental skills are there. He is still incredibly young. Local boy. I love the kid and want him to be a career Rooster.
I don’t mind DCE coming as long as it doesn’t impact Savala’s future at our club going forward. It would be criminal if we lost him so we could get a year from DCE. I think Hugo’s ceiling and future contributions to the RWB are so bright, that I think even a premiership next season via a DCE:Walker combo would still not justify him leaving the club or losing him.
Not sure if he’ll have a loan spell or play off the bench in middle rotation. No idea how that’d work given we are likely to see Connor move back to the bench to accomodate Robson. Will be interesting to see how the “guru” plays it.

If Savala has any chance to displace one of them it would be Walker in my opinion,Rodwell won’t be going anywhere..
What has he shown thus far to justify the enormous show of faith some of the pen put in him,? To suggest he is automatically more valuable to the long term success of the club than Walker who has already won countless matches for us with his peformances in his early 20s, proven to be one of the best goalkickers and field goal kickers in the NRL and scored bucket loads of points for us in not even 100 games…. This would lead me to think Rodwell is a future immortal level player based off some of the wraps. I saw him in U19s Origin and loved what I saw but the amount of amazing juniors that fizzle out and do nothing in the NRL is off the charts.
I hope T Rodwell is a massive success but I think some going off a bit early. You can only go off highlights and performances in junior comps.

i'd like to know more about savala. we know bryan fletcher was a late bloomer cos he gave the game away and then met gus gould at a late night kebab place but what's hugo's story? how come the club didn't have him as a priority? how come he's only now really showing the goods?

I assume Chooks put him there as we do these days.
Since then he’d have been waiting for a crack behind Keary, Walker, Townsend, Smith etc etc. Hard to get a start in the halves.
Injury let to opportunity and here we are.
He’s smashed it.

Currently he is playing in the NSW Cup against other first graders and dare I say he has already stood out in a few games..
He has it all, great organiser and runner of the ball with a deadly step,as well as a crisp passing game..Also a good kicker in general play and goalkicker..He is only 19 years old,and their is a reason the Club have signed him up until the end of 2028.
My intentions were not to discredit Sam Walker in any way,as he’s also a very special talent and the both together in our halves long term would be the envy of all other Clubs..
I only made a point that if we needed to choose between the two players long term (which I hope never happens)I would go with Rodwell based on composure alone..
Both are freak footballers, but Rodwell has a calmness to his game which is a real stand out to me.
