If RTS comes close to Minichiello in his prime I'll be happy except with no injuries this time. He's similar to him great at breaking tackles and is leading metres like Mini once did but the thing about this bloke he has a step. Maybe he can be our version of Langlands but less overrated by a couple of notches. People asking for a fullback like Slater is too much to ask they only come around every 50 years. Churchill in the 50's Slater in the 2000's someone else in the 2050's hopefully Billy Slater the 3rd plays for the tri-colors if the NRL hasn't totally changed the face of Sydney clubs by then.

In looking at the two players the real test for Slater will be if he is going nearly as strongly at age 32 where Mini is now.

I think one of the reasons Easts fans are proud of Mini is how he still is one of our best consistently in even in 2012, and provides the consisently high energy that some of our other guys lack in their game.

        No contest - Slater.

This may be controversial but in my opinion Luke Phillips was a better fullback than Mini - the skills he had were pretty extraordinary - unfortunately injuries cut his career short.

Wasnt injuries really, lied about his age by about 5 years and got away with it

Nothing controversial about that as far as I'm concerned.

Diamond was twice the player Mini was, or ever will be.

I'll go as far as to say that if Phillips plays in the 03-04 GF's we win three in a row.

Same goes for the champion that is Brett Mullins.

If Mullins was on the left wing in the GF 03, then there is no Sattler tackle, we score and go on to win !

RTS is not even close to MINI hes always been a side stepper with pace some may compare him to Slater he absolutley even has the hands of a 5/8th I personally believe he'll get a chance in FG sooner or later

Slater would win by a nose IMO because this was him in his prime. You can't just say it was no contest.

You forget there was an ankle tap in there earlier on No ankle tap Byrne scores under the posts

the one thing I remeber head to head about Slater and Mini when he was in his prime was beibng at Suncorp in SOO 3 2005 The last time we wona series Mini made a clean break looked from well inside his own half looked set to score But Slater mowed him down pretty easily

Please. Anyone who was alive when he was playing talks about him in the same breath as beetson fulton gasnier etc.
