What Cronulla have that we don't is a good mix of young & old players combining well. Our youth lacks direction.. Money has got nothing to do with it.

You have a team with little resources like the sharks, using a coach that we sacked cultivating a belief and a common purpose.

      Thirdly, our culture stinks.
If you ask ex players and ex staff they will tell you the same.
Including the culture of some of our supporters, especially those hell bent on pushing there own personal agenda's at every given opportunity.

And yes, of course everyones entitled to there opinion & to express that, i'm as p!ssed off as most on here with how the club is travelling, but too say there are some on here who go right over the top would be a massive understatment.

its been mentioned many times here and in the media many many times over the years how politis sinks his own money into the footie team but where is the evidence of it?
i think if so it has been grossly exaggerated whilst at the romanticism of the so called uncle nick is pathetic. he is for nick and nick only.perhaps in the early days he may have invested a reasonable amount and that is a long time ago.as a history story says beware of those who bare gifts.

I remember Elton John owning Watford FC as well as other celebrities and cashed up people wanting to be associated with owning a sporting club, preferably one that they have a passion for. I will agree that Nick would have a lot of passion for the club but how much is the ego of owning a club? As for Elton John?? Well I think he lost a lot of $$$ so I'm sure he's out of Watford.

I've already mentioned in other threads that I have a great deal of affection for Politis.
But to say he knows what he is doing in terms of rugby league recruitment and administration is my contention.

Look back to the much publicized decade of excellence.

              Players loved the place.
The would have taken pay cuts to stay.

Fast forward 2012 and we cut the most decent bloke in the team who left the place hating the coach and the administration.

This would not have happened back then to a valued senior player.
"uncle Nick" would have looked after him in some way.
I think Nick must be getting older and like most of us, fed up with selfish players.

I'm intrigued that so many people here believe that Nick Politis has so much influence over all the bad calls that the club makes, yet complain that it's a closed membership system where the fans have no say in those calls. If none of you are members then how do you know that Nick is making those calls.
Maybe some of you are privy to what's really going on, which would suggest that you may be members, but if you are, what are you doing on this forum...

Surely you must acknowledge that the man has been successful over the years in his business ventures and him making bad decisions all on his own regarding the Football club doesn't really make sense as he would want he club to succeed as much as the rest of us.

My educated guess would be that without his financial input with both money and business contacts, we wouldn't be having this forum conversation as we would have disappeared during Super duper league.

It's the players and the coaching staff that have got to get their act together.

Fair post yet how do you know or what do you know of his financial input? Politis put himself on his pedestal and some here keep him here yet in the corporate world as a chairman of companies his performance would be under review due to the last 5 years of bad decisions.

I don't know for sure, it's an educated guess....or an assumption, (and you know what happens when you assUme don't you!) oops.
I understand what you say about the chairman's performance, but is he making all the final decisions?. Maybe if he was Carney would still be here.

As for the sharks - thats just a reflection of the salary cap. As in, where you have a salary cap that drags everyone down to the level of the weakest clubs, every dog has his day. Even a dirty low dog chook raffle club like the sharks will have the occassional successful season.

I expect more from you Ox.

I don't expect you to agree with me cause I am taking an unpopular stance.

But I don't agree with your logic.

If the salary cap is a leveler, and will continue to be as such...what are we doing that will keep us ahead of the pack?

                                The answer is nothing.

We expect success from coaches when we don't have the infrastructure in place to deal with the complexities of managing young men in 2012. I know Brian is not a man manager. He despises that stuff.

How many coaches have been associated with us since Ricky left?
                                U 20 included......

The 20s have been awful over the last 7 years.

How many issues have we had off the field?
How many have been ....looked after without finding the front page?

I'm no saint but there seems to be a juxtaposition in morals and success.
I love loyalty but I don't necessarily believe that financial success comes on the back of sound moral fibre.

Rugby league is a test of character.
Invariably, the way a man plays the game is a reflection of who they are as people.
                                There are no short cuts.
Mental strength and the ability to look out for each other in a team sense is paramount.
