Still wild they thought they could just roll into our stadium with the old “it’s government-owned so it’s everyone’s!” routine.
Clubs have home grounds. Always have. Allianz is ours — in our patch, set up with our facilities, and we’ve got exclusive access. End of story.
If I were Souffs, I’d be rattling the tin at their holy trinity — Russell “Gladiator Real Estate Agent” Crowe, that Holmes a Court bloke who thinks owning a footy team is philanthropy, and Mike Cannon-Brooks with his billion-dollar PowerPoint startup.
Plenty of teams use 20–25k seaters. So fix up Redfern Oval, grow up, and stop whinging about someone else’s stadium.
I actually thought when they redid Heffron Park - now THAT would be a great location for their home ground. I live just down the road in the Randwick/Maroubra area - if they'd done it I might even have nipped down to see some NRL games. But yeah I agree about making a 20K seater at Redfern - knock down a few housing commission blocks of units (and relocate the residents to Point Piper, Vaucluse, Watsons Bay, Kirribilli and Mosman, which don't seem currently to have many housing commission units and really should in the interest of community mindedness). And build the new Redfern Oval.
Bravo Player. A new Redfern Oval? The poor buggers endured the old one for 70 years with it's single stand and the low level mound all around. We shoulda shared the Sports Ground with em. We were arseholes to our working class brothers when you come to think of it. Then again most of the grounds were similar back in the day..
That area will never get a stadium, the demographic is against it but I do agree Heffron would have been ideal, that's their heartland now. What a bleak and unwelcoming spot it is on the Bunnerong Rd. side, gritty and windswept. Cold as in Winter . I was a teacher at South Sydney High and used to take sport there a sunny Winter day was a luxury. All in all a good spot for a stadium.
I hope that Rusty doesn't get too burned by his NRL investment. He's a RL fan writ large which has to be admired. Imagine what a potential black hole acquiring an NRL team is, the huge resources required to sustain it and, despite the world he lives in, he's a League fanatic often arriving at games with bewildered celebrities who look even more confused on leaving. But it's publicity for the Game and to that extent he's an ambassador as well. His massive commitment couldn't be anything other than passion. He says that it does better than some other investments and for his sake I'm a bit sorry he didn't get approval.
That means you have enough assets to live in and retire with?
When asset prices rise much faster than wages how many extra hours did you work for that to happen?
Asset prices rising faster than wages are a transfer of wealth from future asset-owners to current asset-owners. It would be nice if voters understood this point.
A pathetic socialist/communist leaner. Always been a freak, now we understand why. My partner and I own 2 houses, one of which we worked hard for. The other one we just got given as an inheritance. We have no time for communist leaners like dice. Who somehow expects to get some of the cut from family estates of which they had no involvement with, just because the kids shouldn't!!
I'll think of you in the surf freezing as it will be again early tomorrow when we do our swim, then again when we are teeing off at 12.09 at Catalina

But dice "When asset prices rise much faster than wages how many extra hours did you work for that to happen?"
Im living within the system that I have been dealt, I dont have any control over asset prices rising much faster than wages.
Genuine question
What do you want me to do in regards to asset prices rise much faster than wages?
Suggest to me what you would do if you were in my shoes?

All I ask is that you understand that younger Australians can no longer afford to own a house or to have children.
What can you do? Don't vote for any Globalist or Big Australia zealot. That includes Labor, Liberal, Greens, or the Teals. Time to p1ss them all off.

A guy at work just bought a 1 beddy unit for just over 400k, not in a ritzy part of town, or anything too fancy, but he pays a little more in the mortgage than he did in rent, he does a part time job after hours to supplement his mortgage, said the 12hours overtime he does a week covers more than half the repayments.
it depends what you want, and what you’re willing to sacrifice for a few years.

Do you think Hando has put more into Souths than Nick has contributed financially to Easts?

That sounds about right. If he pairs up with someone who also works they may be able to afford a two-bedder and have one child. They won't be able to afford anything suitable for 2 or 3 children. This is Australia's version of the one-child policy. The point was let's not call it an improvement over what we and our parents had 30-50 years ago.
