I would not be surprised if the Hugo and Sandon is the best half pairings as they do have a history of playing together from Junior Rep days.
Sam could well be the next released or moved on - If Dom Young was a high value signing and the club went all out to sign him and now moved him on why not Sam Walker as well especially if they sign DCE.
I cannot see how a DCE/Sam Walker combo will work - A chalk and cheese combo
I would say Hugo's progression in the NRL space has even surprised Coach Robinson
He walks back into a team that is very different to last year. No Keary, no JWH, different outside backs on his right. He has to start again a bit with the combos and sync. We killed it in attack last year with record stats and finished the season with the best differential. Largely due to two gun halves setting the platform and creating space, occasionally playing together not just left and right. We were a threat across the park, and every ruck.
I honestly don't think Sam alone would have made that much difference to our win/loss ratio so far this year. Give him time and cut some slack. Big credit to what both Hugo and Sandon have done together post Chad, however. They have been outstanding.

No way Sam is moved on, although I do agree that Robbo would be pleasantly surprised at Hugo’s form this year so much so that if he was to make a decision he might decide to not sign DCE and go with Hugo but no way he would be moving on Sam.Last edited by nayfo; 06-05-2025, 09:37 PM.

You are delusional if you think he will be released.

DCE and Walker would be a great combo, DCE a more structured and calm half whilst Walker loves playing eyes up footy, Walker is a decent runner as well which DCE isn't so much anymore.

DCE has kicked for 5497 metres this year with 228 tackles and 23 misses.
Hugo has kicked for 2790 metres this year with 190 tackles and 21 misses.

Please explain to me how those stats tell me whether a player is a longer kicker or a better defender?
