Here's DCE's 2024 stats compared to Sam Walker:

Tries Scored: DCE: 8 Sam Walker: 7

Kicking Metres: DCE: 9857 Walker: 5255

Forced Drop Outs: DCE: 21 Walker: 10

Try Assists: DCE: 17 Walker: 21

Tackles Made: DCE: 437 Walker: 351

Tackles Missed: DCE: 54 Walker: 70

Total Running Metres: DCE: 1827 Walker: 950

    ---

In almost every stat DCE wins out even on Walker who everyone here is incredibly high on, Walker wins with try assists and lets call the tries scored almost even but everything else DCE wins by a considerable distance. Walker played in a team that ran third whilst DCE played in a team that ran 7th and had considerably less quality compared to us.

What are the fans and clubs seeing in DCE? The facts. We can pretend Hugo and Sandon are better than DCE but DCE beats both of them combined in almost every single stat, DCE beats Walker in almost every single stat in the last comparable season, he was the standout for QLD's origin side last year and brings so much to our side from a consistency, defensive and leadership standpoint.

Fortunately for fans of the Roosters our management doesn't think like the posters on this forum and say "I don't want him, he wouldn't look good in our jersey" or "He was a mercenary in his 20s so I don't want him in his late 30s"

      Since 2024
      Walker 14 wins from 21 - 66%
Hugo at starting HB 4 wins from 6 - 66%
      DCE 19 wins from 37 - 51%

Whatever our boys are doing or not doing they are doing it better.

And next year DCE will be 2 years older than 2024 and 3 years older the year after.

I think you or someone else made this argument a couple days ago, it's a bad argument because going off this logic Hugo and Sandon are better than Moses, Cleary, Luai etc. It's a team sport, one player can't win the game by themselves, all your win stats show is that DCE is part of a bad team which we all acknowledge.

Imagine what he'd do at our team which is considerably better than Manly...

I said it before as I am now pointing out that the stats you come up with every second post mean nothing. I can show you stats where a lesser halfback is better than Cleary.

The point is that DCE is performing shithouse this year and it could coincide with his age. Is he one of those players that will go a year or two longer than he should to get every last dollar he can? And if so why should we be the ones who take on a two year risk and could use that $2M to top up our young guns which we have to do anyway.

And he hasn't had a crap team. On paper they are far better than what we had last week and probably all year considering the 8 starting players missing from last year.

But interesting how you brush aside try assists which is why Walker probably has a higher win rate.

So Walker had more try assists in less games than DCE did last year and people want glaze DCE like a christmas ham?

Imagine what DCE would do with a better team Manly lol yeah like the 0 tries Queensland scored in an origin decider at home last year or the 0 points Australia scored in their worst ever international loss 30-0 to New Zealand, can't wait

Inflictor, I can only repeat the same points over and over again.

                - Currently, the media is reporting it is a 1 year deal, DCE has said he is happy to go around for 2026 but is undecided on 2027 and beyond. The Roosters would be signing him for a year and then if he wanted to go on in 2027 and we didn't want him to we could let him go presumably.

                - I was talking about Manly having a not great side over the past 7-8 years as opposed to this year but even still if you wanted to compare this year we'll have 5 Origin players line up tonight whilst Manly will have one. Very few Manly players would walk into the Roosters top 17 aside from the Trbojevic Brothers and DCE.

                - If DCE is performing shithouse then you have to admit Hugo and Sandon are as well as DCE is beating both of them statistically combined right now, I do agree this is a bad year for him which makes it even odder that people such as yourself go crazy for the likes of Sandon when we're apparently getting this player who is outdoing both our halves in a bad form year or him.

                - Nobody brushed aside Walkers try assists, I openly said in my post that Walker did beat DCE in try assists.

This is just ridiculous logic, going off this point then everyone who played the 2023 30-0 loss is shit. Tedesco, Edwards, Fidow, Staggs, Holmes, Munster, DCE, Haas, Hunt, Tino, Martin, Yeo, Grant, Collins, Carrigan, Cotter and Hynes must all be shithouse because they were there also.

Plenty of great Origin players have had a bad Origin game as well, this is very silly logic.

This data is misleading when you factor in that Sam Walker played 1512 minutes last year compared to Daly Cherry Evans who played 1920minutes.

Ah, the stats behind the stats give us a much better perspective. Let’s also take into account that it wasn’t until half way through last year that Luke Keary finally handed over the reigns of the team to Walker.

I’d take a rising Sam Walker over a declining DCE every day of the week. History will tell us in 12 or so years who was the better halfback over the course of their careers, but for right now, Sammy thanks.

Yeh the Keary/Walker dynamic definitely played it's part.

Not to mention there was no half in the game who averaged more possessions per game last year than DCE, not even Nathan Cleary. So raw stats like total runs and total kicks which don't measure effectiveness and instead just measure pure output are to be expected.

And do you want DCE taking heaps of runs when he only made 3 linebreaks last year anyway? I'd rather see those carries given to Teddy, Marky Mark or Toia. That's why raw numbers alone can be misleading.

I can't imagine he would be granted that kind of dominance over the ball in our side, so with natural deterioration and a reduced role it would be interesting to see how effective he would be able to remain. There's an argument to be made both ways there.

Don't make up BS. I have never gone crazy for Sandon. My argument is Hugo is a better option than DCE and the difference the team has been playing since he started at halfback proves it. Winning form doesn't lie.

If we tell Hugo he could leave next year how many clubs would put up their hand compared to the two clubs for DCE? Not even his own lifetime club want him.
