Hopefully his lack of good form at Manly recently is only because he's disappointed with them.

I'll be interested to see how he plays in Origin.
If he doesn't show more than he has for Manly recently then we don't need him.

I guess next we'll be hearing how Munster is no good because he was clearly outplayed by DCE in this game as were Ben Hunt and Harry Grant, they must be no good also.

In the 2021 season where Tom Trbojevic allegedly dragged Manly to a prelim we saw DCE score 9 tries, dish 27 try assists, make 536 tackles for a tackle efficiency rate of over 90% and average 85 running metres a game. Not sure this is a great argument, man.
You're scraping the barrel with DCE to the point you're bringing up tackling stats for a halfback lol give me a break. Turbo was the Dally M winner that year and what did he have 40 tries to something? DCE wasn't even halfback of the year. You need to go post on the Manly forum with all this DCE glazing

"Dear" that was the first clue.
Posting in the Off Topic section was the second clue.
I can be here all day.

Brother, you hate DCE, we get it. Talk about scraping the bottom of the barrel. The fact you bring up an outlier and loss in a random test match to Tonga from 6 odd years ago as some sort of proof that DCE sucks is hilarious. Going off that logic does every player that played for Aus that evening suck? Pretty sure Teddy was the fullback and it was Boydo’s last game in the Green and Gold aswell. Those blokes must be useless. lol.

Apparently all success at Manly is down to Turbo and DCE’s 300 odd games are just a result of advanced sports science. Talk about an agenda haha. A little bit of balanced thinking goes a long way.

Here’s a hot take. I prefer Cronk to DCE in almost every way HOWEVER, it could be argued that the more skilful player of the two is DCE. I think Cherry is a better natural footballer than Cronk and brings more to a team from an attacking point of view. He is quicker, has.a wider array of kicks and a better passing game. I believe it was Cronks professionalism, rock solid defence, game management and cerebral playing style that made him so great. DCE doesn’t quite have those to the level that Cooper had. Cronk did however, benefit from playing in some of the best teams ever. He played in a generational Melb team with 2-3 other immortals, played for the best Origin side ever and played for the Kangaroos in a time where we were completely unbeatable with stars everywhere. Then he joined our team as the final piece in what was already a perennial premiership contending side with strike all over the park. I think comparing DCE’s resume to Cronks is a little unfair and whilst I prefer Cronk and have admired who he is as a player and character, I doubt he wins 4 odd premierships with the Manly sides DCE has played in. Conversely, I think if Cherry played for Melbourne during that time or even in recent times, he’d have quite a few more rings than his solitary one from 2011. Just my opinion.

It is natural that the fans and media are comparing this situation to Cronks but it’s the scenarios/teams the two players walk into at the club that make it different, not the player themselves. Both Cronk and DCE are remarkably consistent footballers and great halfbacks that would compliment any side in rugby league. If it eventuates, we should be grateful and trust the process like we did with Cooper, doesn’t mean the outcome is the same though.

pretty much. dce has been a very good player for a long time. whether you think he's as good as cronk doesn't mean he's not a very good player. age is a factor but he started this season well and we'll have an idea of where he's at during origin.
at this stage i don't feel strongly either way. sure dce is probably an improvement on sandon or hugo but if we went with hugo then we'll have less salary cap pressure and can keep other players we want to keep

Alls I know is over the past few years DCE has torn us a new one when he’s versed us. He’s more than single-handedly turned some games against us including last year when he was 5 metres from a 24 pt come from behind win.

Only because Keary kept passing him the ball.

Trbojevic scored 28 tries in the 2021 season, nobody ever said DCE was better than Trbojevic that year just that he obviously played a big part in getting them there also, this was proven by DCE finishing equal fourth for the Dally M race that year.

As for tackling stats, you tried to blame him for a 30-0 drubbing and were proven wrong via the stats, don't walk it back and pretend it's me scraping the barrel when it's you that is doing so.
