It's been reported the Bulldogs are considering signing DCE even despite reports they had pulled out. Gus Gould is a canny operator so would not be surprised if this was the case.

Galvin is likely to sign with the Eels so the Dogs will look at DCE for certain

i just don’t like him for some reason, never have, he comes across smug, seems to be on the nose with current and past players at club and state level, and always seems about himself.

It also gives us the chance to believe in what we are trying to preach with our academy.

if we do sign him, I got no problem supporting him, but I’d just rather he doesn’t sign with us. As others have said, I also had no problem with the SBW and Cronk signings, this one just feels off.
That is a balanced response. I don't like his smugness either.

It does seem to be dragging on along with the lack of commitment to Sexton. It will be interesting to see what pans out. Galvin to dogs doesn't make sense. DCE to Roosters making less sense with Savala's form. DCE to dogs though...

Hard to say as it's 2025 and DCE is on a rapid decline! This tends to happen when you're 36 and will be 37 when the 2026 seasons kicks off plus Savala's game should be more advanced by then. Furthermore it's about the long game when a team is rebuilding so we're better off thinking beyond a 1 year contract.

My bold prediction and I've been nailing them of late is that this will be DCE last SOO game. The speed and intensity will demonstrate that he is too old and slow and QLD will get pumped in the opening game.

Anyway, having followed this great club for more than 5 decades I know in my heart of hearts that we're not silly enough to sign DCE. The future is bright at the Roosters! You just need to take the blinkers off and be patient.

Well said. A 30 year old DCE would have been a good option; 37 years old, no thanks. I’m happy to be patient.

How typical. It doesn’t surprise me.

No to DEC. No to Galvin.

Nothing is easy, nothing is perfect, however we seem to heading in the right direction.

Queensland will get pumped but don't think it will be because of DCE but moreso because the NSW side is much better in almost every area.

What do they generally do when a team get's pumped?

Make wholesale changes! Drop the under performers. Give tenacious Deardon a crack. Having watched DCE go through the motions in the NRL it's likely he'll be out of his depth this time round.

Did you buy that Manly flag yet?

Fit in with all our other halves. Never have to many.

I personally don’t care who he plays for only if he does join the roosters then I don’t want to lose Hugo. Sandon Smith can go but we desperately need a long kicker so I would tie up Hugo asap.

The reaction to DCE news and speculation, particularly when it comes to his ability and career achievements, the reaction that the Chad Townsend signing should’ve gotten.

It’s clear that some on here just don’t like him. I get the argument that he’s possibly surplus to requirements if Hugo can kick on this year, but to say he’s average or not on the same level of some other great players is just factually incorrect and ignorant.

I admit I’ve never liked him much. I hate the way he milks and dives for penalties for both Manly and Queensland. Off the field he’s well spoken and seems a good person. My main concern is his age. He’ll be 37 next year and I think we should be focusing on our young talent coming through. Yes we haven’t been icing games at times this year, but our main man has been out with an ACL. He’s been building his game over the past few seasons and if he was in the team we probably would have won those games. I think it’s a big risk outlaying all that money to a 37 year old, however great a player he’s been.

Comparing DCE to Townsend is ludicrously dumb. Townsend was signed mid last year to be the backup to Walker and Smith and the only reason he got game time this year was because of Walker's injury, nobody had outcry to that signing because he wasn't supposed to play. DCE is coming in on $1m a year expecting to win us a comp when he hasn't done shit with Manly in well over a decade and that was when they had a stacked team that already had years of success long before he got in to the team.

Manly fans feel sorry for the club that takes him.

Sour grapes or does this speak volumes about his character?
