  • Official Match Day Thread: Roosters v Bulldogs

It’s been a long wait for this game. I always look forward to this clash. My hate of The Dogs is second only to my hate for Souths. Beating them is almost as satisfying.

What an opportunity we have tonight to beat this dirty club and their filthy degenerate fans. They are under strength and their forward pack apart from a couple. resembles a second grade pack. Besides Nat Butcher our pack is at full strength.

There will be no excuses not to win the forward battle tonight. We need to be on from the first tackle. Our bench is also superior to their bunch of no-names. Let’s bash them well and truly and send their violent band wagon fans back to Belmore where they can riot all night long.

    Kick-off 8pm.

    Go Roosters!

The wet weather will make it an ugly game and a battle of attrition.
If our forward pack goes after theirs, gang tackles and is aggressive in defence, it will turn the game our way.

Wet track... Klein... could be a lottery. I was hoping they'd replace Chrichton with super-sub Drew Hutchison, but alas they stuck with their captain.

Inconveniently, those no name forwards like Kikau, Mahony and our very own Saluka-Fifita are keeping them top of the table. Is it their muzzi following that so irritates you 13?

Wet weather footy, grind, heavy track fatigue will be a factor dogs are a a very fit team, forwards really come into this one they have win that battle especially with 3 of their forwards out and of course kicking game tonight will be crucial over to you Hugo, keep the ball away from Kiraz and pepper Montoya he’s the weak link in that backline.

Tackle hard, run hard, low errors and kick early, turn them around rinse and repeat.

Must play through the middle we can’t go to the edges in this unless bash the door down which we have a knack of doing when we panic.

19-18 Chooks Sandon nails the field goal.

Hopefully we play well after the bye. Like thirteen I hate the dogs almost as much as Souffs.

They’ve got a lot of injuries so it’s as good a time to play them as ever. I think the wet weather favors their playing style better but we should be able to adapt.

Would love to put them back in their place. Hype train getting a little too out of hand now. Chooks in a close one.

Burtons Bombs in the wet will be telling .Hopefully Savala can return serve. If our defence can stay solid for full 80..then there is Klein.. but if Im right I dont think he likes the Bulldogs either.

I'm not sure. In theory it would seem to favour them, but when they played the Broncos in the wet, they weren't able to use their mobility, and their lighter pack just got bulldozed. Hopefully that's a similar story today.

Really can't decide which way to tip this one. We seem to be shortening in the market.
For what it's worth, Ryan Paps (who is leading his tipping comp with Munster and Hughes) tipped us to win.

Should be a cracking game, and it's definitely important for us with origin upcoming and some tough opponents.

They focus on placing pressure on the opposition with relentless line speed. They pack hunt in large numbers. Key is to stand a little deeper, run plays with a change of angle, grubber or chip over the top at the appropriate time. Never drop our heads when they force an error and get in our face as this lifts them.

Billy the kid needs to make sure Crichton can't breath which should help nullify their attack.
