I still reckon DCE manager was using us to drive his price up and the media swallowed it up including Gus Gould... DCE knows exactly where he wants to be next year and it's not with us imo.

Signing DCE is not akin to signing Cronk back in 2018/19. That squad was ripe and ready to win a comp and Cronk was still the games best 7.

Comparing both spines I would take 1 in a heartbeat!

    1
    Teddy
    Savala
    Walker
    Robson

    2
    Teddy
    DCE
    Walker
    Robson

      - DCE take it as you read it could allready be signed or maybe it’s up to DCE and he still hasn’t made up his mind if he is playing or not

it’s a tough one I know it works well getting rid if dead wood but we certainly can be to blame for some contract stuff ups and also pushing guys out early - but it slowly seems they are getting the ship back in the right direction again
That's not what he said at all. He said they (roosters) expressed interest around 6 weeks ago, and nothing has happened since. No discussion with his manager, nothing.

While there is life, there is hope.

Also said they were in negotiations to upgrade and extend 3 of the younger guys' deals, didn't say who.

And he gave it to Newcastle over their handling of Young. Say what you like about is, but at least we're not run like an old RSL Club, which newcastle sure sounds like.

I wasn’t saying the last part as what robbo said

should have highlighted that’s what I take from what he is saying- my thoughts are the deal is most likely done

          That's how I understood it.

From memory DCE said he will make a decision later in the year whether he continues to play or not.
He could very well retire and if he decides to continue playing then we have put up our hands as being interested. But if Robbo says we haven't had that discussion yet then I doubt that translates to we have already signed him.
He could just as easily take on a coaching role with us and remain in Sydney.
I think the world is waiting on DCE to work out what he wants to do and we continue to carry on our business.
And the media are just milking the story for all they can get.

why is robbo giving a presser today? good if we called it to clear up the dom young situation. either way, good to see robbo really getting on the front foot.
knights need to cut out the silly buggers and take dom (if that's what dom and us still want). we've made it clear we're happy to hold onto him

Good one Trent: I posted this in the shopping Sandon Smith around and now here due to its relevance with Robbo and the Club stepping up to Tabloid Stirrers.
I love Easts but totally dislike the NRL/Media partnership and any other bogan media platform associated with the NRL - the majority of the time its speculation - its sole purpose to generate NRL revenue and personal gain for those pathetic podcasters and unheralded journos and within all of it is where emotion creates the revenue. I stay outside the NRL matrix.
I would prefer the club to have its own PR based podcasts and an official journo doing interesting stories without NRL tabloid flavour who is not contracted to any media company associated with the NRL/ Media partnership or low level podcasts.
If that was to happen there certainly be no digital animosity.

Reckon the meeja hear a high profile face is leaving and they figure drop the Chooks and that's gonna send his price higher.

Only thing is why shop Sandon ?
Yeah we got 3 halves atm but can we play him off the bench....dunno.

He wouldn't be eating up too much cap space. If he has a really decent outing against the Dogs we might hold off shopping him

I think it was to clear the air regarding Brandon Smith and Dom Young? He criticised the media reporting of both situations and backed the ability/attitude both players. IMO he had to do it...

You answered your own question. Robbo was excellent in what he said, called Newcastle out for their nonsense. It was refreshing to see Robbo a bit fired up and calling them out. And was clear and direct when he says Mark was/is playing better, and that's the way it goes. Said Dom is a good footballer, NRL standard footballer. From a Roosters perspective, to be honest we've dodged a bullet if we can offload him, he has a few years left on his contract with us doesn't he? He could just say ok I'll play reserve grade and you still have to pay me.

Any chance Robbo can be so forthcoming on the Terrell May departure?

Or is that a taboo subject around the club & fans.

So nice he can pick & choose.

Especially when he's been one of the buys on the year.

There was speculation that Sandon was offered 400K by the Roosters and his manager - NOT the Roosters - was shopping him around.

to be fair, that's yesterday's news. it would be odd for him to revisit it.
may's gone, get over it. who knows? maybe the stars have aligned for him over there and he wouldn't be playing so well if he'd stayed with us. good luck to the tigers

Pretty sure he said we are moving in a different direction. Had nothing bad to say about him. Ho hum.

May is the best player at the Tigers. I'd say any of our Top 17 last year would be the best player at the Tigers.

                              Commonsense prevails.
                              Eureka!
Dom is a first grade footballer. Exactly.
In the NSW cup highlights ( Canterbury, Manly) it looks like he is toying with the opposition.
He will be the perfect backup for an injury to Toops, Teddy, Marky Mark, B Smith, or Toia.
Regarding DCE , it looks like there is an option to say “no thanks”.
Could be that the Roosters are waiting for him to show SOO/ Australian rep form in his club games, before making a decision on him.
If he doesn’t perform , “see ya later, DCE”
                              Sounds like commonsense prevailing.
The emphasis is on the retention of all the young guns who are coming through , and if retained, are going to be a premiership force.
What will the media talk about now, if they can’t make jokes about the salary sombrero, and the Roosters buying premierships?

Yeah he even said the same thing during this presser? There's 3 younger players who he needs the cash to lock-in.

Glad May's going well at the Tigpies. Can only spend so much time worrying about that.
