He doesn’t have a step, hardly has a swerve, probably doesn’t have the best flick pass in the world, isn’t a great defender. Why do you assume he’d go gangbusters? Just seems strange. Again, I hope if he plays centre he kills it, but he sure as hell doesn’t look like one to me.

re the initial question, I think Brandon will go very well, and Dom will probably have a decent highlight reel. Sometimes a fit isn’t right. Smith has put in effort, but did his ACL as he was finding some really nice form. Our issue with him is that he’s a lock or 14, not a 9. And we have Robson coming, and the best 14 in the comp. There’s nowhere to keep him.

Dom I’m less complementary towards. I don’t think he didn’t try in his games with us, but the decision making and errors were just too much to handle. We have a better back 5 now on less coin. What more do you want?
That's the 3rd post in the last couple of days where it was rational, measured and made sense.

You stalked him at the local IGA again didn’t you?

Seriously Dom would be a complete disaster at centre - he can’t defend well enough for NRL level on the wing and rarely makes the correct defensive read. Centre has twice as many decisions to make than wing.

Doms got pace that he only uses when in a try scoring opportunity- bar that he’s running sideways to avoid front on contact.

He's got suspect hands and can’t catch the highball well at all. His yardage carries are weak.

I see no problem of letting Dom go - yeah we made the wrong call in signing him to begin with. The club should be applauded for letting him find an opportunity somewhere else so he’s a chance for a fresh start and play first grade.

The club by letting Dom go is doing the best thing for Dom and the club. Marky Mark and Toups are better wingers, Billy and Rob are better centres and they are all better wingers than Dom. TBH junior Pauga is a more reliable player than Dom.

It’s a shame he didn’t work out but don’t blame the club for his performance. We gave him a shot - he didn’t improve. The club has done the right thing by all. He’s too expensive to keep as depth. Jnr and Ethan King will have to be our depth options as well as the other Rodwell maybe.

As for Dom, How many times can a coach tell his winger to slide and stick with his man and yardage means running towards the oppositions try line? I'd be surprised if another coach can help him improve these aspects of his game. You'd sign him for his try scoring ability and work around the rest!
Brandon can definitely play, if he accepts he is not a full time hooker, that wasn’t the agreement with us though.

his next club will tell him
where to play, not vice versa.

Terrell* May was arguably our best forward last year. There was no performance issues with him and we’d re-signed him not 3 months before we let him go. The reason so many threads started was because it was a mystery as to why it happened.

Dom on the other hand has been defensively poor for the majority of his NRL career, not just with us. He had poor periods last season and whilst I don’t think any of us expected him to be released only a quarter of the way through his 2nd season, it has more justification than the May exit. This is assuming the reason that Robbo and the club gave RE: May was legit and it didn’t involve anything off field that’s been covered up.

You like youth development. Why are you so upset at your boy Dominic going when it’s the ultimate show in faith to academy products Billy Smith and Bobby Toia? They’ve been solid and earnt their spot through perseverance and the club has decided to develop them to their potential instead of paying Dom 600k a season to be a defensive liability and run sideways coming out of our end.

I actually like Dom for his Xfactor. He’s a bit of a throwback to when wingers were just fast blokes who could score tries, and think getting rid of him early in the season is a bit of a mistake given our injury history to outside backs. Would’ve been a good depth cover for us should we suffer an injury or Teddy get picked for Origin. I am only assuming but perhaps the club have acted swiftly because his reaction to the dropping hasn’t been the best. It seems strange they’d want him gone now instead of the end of the season unless they think they can use that extra few hundred thousand on a signing before June 30 or an upgrade to a current player. I think it’s good to acknowledge though that you seemingly only back Robinson and the club when it’s a decision you agree with and you are no different to me or anyone else when we voice our opinions.

                        • "Dom has not been given a chance to play centre" Perhaps after centre we can give him a crack at halfback.

He's more likely to be playing reserve grade with your mate the Hutchinator than he is to be dominating the NRL in the centres.
