I think we've found Walker's long term halves pairing.
Born and bred in the eastern suburbs.

Was good to see him run more. The running game will develop over time once he’s more confident.

Agree. Small body Sandon got handled too easy.

Getting massively ahead of ourselves here. Hugo played really well last night, his best game to date but it was against the team running 13th that is 3 wins from 9 games, a 32 year old Luke Keary was decimating teams like that last year also.

Will Hugo play similar games against Melbourne, Dogs and other top tier teams? Maybe so but until he does we shouldn't be saying we don't need arguably one of the greatest halfbacks of the last 15 years.

Of course we don't need him.

Can we have an example of a improper player so we can compare?

One factor of Hugo’s skill overlooked is his passing game. His passes are so crisp unlike the slo mo of Kearys passing game and early season half back Townsend.

What's DCE's record against the top tier teams though? - The Dolphins did put 42 on the Storm recently including 30 in the second half. plus beat Penrith 30-12 so a dangerous side on their day.

The only negative from last nights game was the last 20 or so in the second half - after obtaining a 32-8 lead they failed to complete their next 3 or 4 sets. At one stage in the first half they were 10 from 10 in set completions.

Need to be better in set completions and reduce the errors - 12 Errors - most in the second half including the last 20 or so.

No, you're getting massively behind yourself. You need to let the obsession with signing a 37yo halfback go. You are buying at the wrong end of the market. Hugo is 10x the investment, for 1/3 of the price. If it hadn't been for Cronk winning his comps here, paying big money for old age players from other clubs at the very end of their career would still be viewed as it was previously - madness. We should know.

"Will Hugo play similar games against Melbourne blah blah?" Maybe. He looks real good after a couple of games. Let's find out. He's a kid who is just starting out, he's played 7 in a great Anzac Day win, and now last night he stars in magic round after losing his 5/8 early on.

And you would rather we sign 37yo Cherry Evans, a Manly legend, for 3x as much, and probably lose Hugo? Complete madness.

100%, It's such a simple yet important detail. It's just as important for your Dummy Half! ZDC offers great service and is improving his running and ball playing aspect of his game with every round. I actually think ZDC service is better than Watson's however Watson is the superior overall player.

A wayward pass from your dummy half or 1st receiver can throw the timing of the play out and generally results in an error or it can effect the overall rhythm of your set. This is commonly referred to as
'clunky' or 'rust' from Gould and Co.

Could you imagine being as small as Sammy and having to dig into the line? You know that you'll most likely get smashed by someone twice your size. He then needs to push that fear aside whilst sizing up whether to play short or out the back and then deliver that perfectly timed pass. Sandon excelled in this department last round and it made a huge difference to our attacking game. Dig into the line, you draw the B and C defender to you, Teddy sweeps Gus runs the suicide line which gives Sandon multiple targets to pass to. This is something that Keary struggled with late in his career and inevitably compromised our attack down the right edge.
