The one thing I know about uncle nick is that he makes decisions based on what he believes is best for the club. If a rookie like Savala or a relatively inexperienced player like Sandon don’t want to spend a year learning off someone like DCE but instead want to do a runner like Pearce then uncle nick will probably think they aren’t the right choice long term anyway. After all, the media reports now are that Sandon didn’t agree to a contract extension at the end of last year anyway,

Question….omce Walker comes back, if one of our centres goes down (which is likely to happen with Billy Smith’s unlucky history) can Savala be a stop gap fill in at centre if we are desperate? Just thinking outside the square of what we do if a centre goes down which will happen at some stage.

So are we totally discounting what Andrew Webster said that Uncle Nick told him we are not after DCE and had made no offer to him?
I don't ever recall us being linked to a player, Uncle Nick saying we aren't interested and we actually got him.

There is no return date yet for Junior Pauga. They still don’t know exactly what his back problem is. Jackson Stewart is going to play NSW Cup and not Flegg in a fortnight now the Ball season is over. They have big wraps on him. He played fullback in Ball because Bassingthwaite got injured. He’s an outside back. It might be him or Tom Rodwell, Toby’s brother.

I just want to know why people think the signing of DCE would result in us losing a young half when based off the season to date, the same scenario presented itself. I think it might have to do with the fact some peeps on here don’t like Manly or DCE as an individual.

At the start of the season we played Chad T and Sandon in the halves because Sammy was injured. I pray to god that is the only reason that Chad was named and the original plan was always Sandon and Sam but we’ll never know.

Where was the clamouring for Hugo then or the concern that Hugo was going to leave because Sandon and Chad were ahead on the pecking order? Additionally, if Sandon kills it this year then we lose Rodwell. Likewise if Rodwell lives up to all the wraps on him and he’s the boy wonder we all think he is, then we lose Sandon. We effectively have 4 players vying for 2 spots. Replace Chad with DCE for 2026 and it’s the exact same scenario. In reality they are battling for 1 spot as Sam Walker is our long term half. There is not a world where we keep Sam, Rodwell, Sandon and Hugo long term regardless on if Daly ever comes here or not.

We shouldn’t be passing up on DCE or blaming that potential signing on losing a young half.

Where’s the source on this one mate? How long ago was it? The media are now falling over themselves saying DCE to Easts is virtually guaranteed. Can’t always trust them as they are the amateur boys club. The telling sign to me is Robbo usually shuts rumours down aswell but he hasn’t in this case.

Like I said, Robbo is pretty good at pouring cold water on rumours. He’s done it a fair bit the last few seasons - Haas, TPJ, Lomax, Holmes, Moses and even recently one of our favourite sons in Joey Manu. Usually comes out and flat out says nah not interested.

For him to perpetuate the rumours even more speaks a thousand words to me.
