Robbo, Maubs etc weren't born yesterday - they've been there for premiership wins multiple times. It's obvious they are seeing character flaws that are incompatible with winning a premiership, regardless of 'potential' they may have.

I have the gut feeling that Smith and May, based on interviews and such, don't have it in them to put in the extra 1%'rs that are vital to getting over the line in this competition.

I'm willing to back the clubs brains trust on these moves.
You don’t need premiership experience to know that Smith is a dud on and off the field,

We have too many Smith’s and they all seem to have issues for a variety of reasons. So one less Smith may be the way to go !

It's then unfortunate thing about the injury. We can't use him and he can't have proper negotiations with us/others.

Wish the media would get farked and let it happen.

Would seem the Roosters have now given Smith permission to find a new club for 2025.

    SMITH’S NEXT MOVE

Brandon Smith’s management have reportedly begin their search to find the exiled hooker a new club after he was given permission to depart the Roosters.

That is according to Code Sports, who are reporting Smith’s agent reportedly sent an email to rival clubs regarding a potential move for the Kiwi international.

The email reportedly informed potential suitors to put their best foot forward to negotiate a potential deal, with his current contract expiring at the end of the 2025 season.

However, Smith, who is unavailable until midway through the 2025 season due a knee injury, is reportedly free to depart the Tricolours should he secure a move.

Smith’s likely to have a host of suitors, being one of the competition’s best hookers when fit and firing, whilst also having the ability to play lock.

    Yes.
We've put in the hard yards with him, time for us to be rewarded.

From what we have for some time - losers . I really thought Terrell has improved so much over the last two years why in the hell did we resign him then this club is starting to look like Sowffffs with recruitment blunders

Brandon will be back later than Sam Walker because his ACL operation was delayed a month due to his MCL repair which was treated first
Its possible he could be back around August however depending on our position on the table, it will not give him long to prove himself prior to his contract expiry

I wouldn't be surprised if we never see Brandon S play for the Roosters again.

Gee I hope the coach is having a close look at himself. He could ask himself: " why did the team I am responsible for, concede a half century in the prelim final " ??

Robson is from Murwillumbah. I reckon Broncos are favourites now that nepotism has been booted out the door.

Edit: I forgot about the Titans. That would be closest.

    SMITH’S ROOSTERS DEADLINE

Brandon Smith’s time at the Roosters could be coming to an end, with Tricolours powerbrokers reportedly unlikely to extend his stay beyond 2025.

That is according to the SMH’s Michael Chammas, who revealed the club could “move in a different direction” ahead of the 2026 season.

Smith joined the Tricolours ahead of their 2023 campaign, but had a turbulent start to life under Trent Robinson, struggling with injuries and consistency.

Smith’s reportedly earning around $850,000 per-season on his current deal, but could be on the lookout for a new club.

“I don’t see him at the Roosters beyond next year. I think they are making plans for life without Brandon Smith,” Chammas said on James Graham’s The Bye Round podcast.

“I hear he’s in a good head space, and they’re happy the way he finished the year.

“But all the mail I’ve been getting out of the Roosters is that next year will be his final year at the club, and they’ll move into a different direction.”

The move comes after news emerged Terrell May was also free to depart the club with immediate effect, being granted permission to negotiate with rivals.

The Roosters have already lost the likes of Jared Waerea-Hargreaves, Luke Keary, Joseph Suaalii and Joseph Manu ahead of the 2025 season.

We should try to re-sign him, but on a reduced contract.
He's experienced, tough, and has "x factor" refer some of the vital/ match-winning tries he scored.
Can't really sign him again for $850k, could get two other players for that.
NRL though *won't* allow clubs to sign "$900,000 players" sign for less....something about devaluing/cheapening or the like.
    eg: Hunt.
Though, for every month Hunt remains unsigned his value contract wise can be reduced by $75,000 per season.
