A few strange recruitment decisions in recent times to say the least starting with Fifita now were apparently after hunt instead of sticking with our youth coming thru our lower grades Markus was a good pickup though

May is a Tiger. I hope we rip his head off when we play them. Get over it.

The players we have signed over time and held players on for doing a lot worse on the off the field
cheese has performed poorly on and off the field on $850k so I can see why they are trying to move him on (might be hard with the acl for clubs to be interested now)
May who we have got a bargain potentially says he isn’t as interested one day and gets the flick after just getting extended
the senior players like Teddy and Gus were shocked
tigers sign him for $220k more per year so showed the great deal we had for him
you need the all in roosters guys but you also need talent
still hadn’t reached his full potential, played all 27 games and was one of our best performers
only ones who gained here were May bank account and the tigers

Terrell is at a ripe age to hit his prime, has enough FG games now that its obvious he would have clubs chasing him, so why not negotiate a deal with another club upon his release for a player in return. He went to the Tigers, ok slim pickings there and realistically, they wouldn't part with Api or Galvin - but surely there is a young player or First grader about to come off contract that could have moved the other way.
Just seems odd - we could have had some leverage there to get something in return

Terrell had reached his ceiling and his attitude sucked.
Leniu, Whyte and Wong are all younger, will get more game time and surpass Terrell by the 2025 season years end.

im not sure the open market idea would work in league - mainly cause we have a salary cap, and it would lead to a greater disparity between clubs. It works in soccer cause its a global system, and small clubs can really benefit - not sure if true, but i remember hearing that the Melbourne Club Mark Viduka played for when young, built a grandstand with the money they earnt from his transfer to Celtic.
But off the top of my head - things i think could work in league;- I think if you want a player under contract at another club, the club buying should pay the other club the entirety of their remaining contract - wouldn't be under the salary cap - but at least the departing club gets something. i also think an element of that money should go to the players junior club
- The above would also mean its a bit more in the club's favor when a player plays the old 'im homesick' card. At least the 2 clubs know what the cost is before the player even starts agitating for a release
- I do like the loan system they have in soccer - im not sure how or if it could work in league, certainly not to the extent it does in soccer, but i think a formal loan system would be great. Maybe something like - all loans are for a full season. a loan can go one way - you dont have to loan a player in return.
- What i think we have to have, like soccer, is transfer windows - i don't know anyone (other than the RLPA) that likes seeing a player play for their club when they have signed up to a season in advance for another club - it's ridiculous. the old reason of 'it gives players time to adjust their life' is BS - they earn enough, and clubs / players get compensated moving costs / have contacts at schools / real estate agents etc - it couldnt be easier. I think there is an easy solution too. Just a rule saying - no player / club can sign elsewhere unless during the offseason (and maybe a mid-year window.) Clubs / players / player agents are not allowed to talk publicly about any movements except in the window. Which basically means - things would happen behind the scenes - fine, it adds to the rumor mill, but because there is no official announcements / signing, there is going to be an element of unknown - which is good. Also means if a player verbally agrees - he cant sign - so technically other clubs could still swoop in. Would also mean the day the window opens - would be a massive day of news - could really leverage it and get great media from it
Just ideas - interested in others thoughts!

I'm surprised V'landys isn't all over it as he could tax it and punters could also bet on it.
