  • Valentine Holmes?

Interesting cowboys allowing Holmes to look around for options
now we are not desperate but have money for a big name signing
with Manu going, suaali going and Billy smith and toia having injuries and Marky n new to rugby I’d be open to this is the chooks had a crack
29 so in his prime, 200 nrl games, premiership, and current origin and test player who can cover fullback, wing and centre on both sides and kicks goals
id be open to him to play centre, kicking and add experience to the backline next year
has been little hit and miss at times but that’s the cowboys

Be interesting if they did sign Valentine Holmes and Tyler Moriarty was playing NRL at the same time - Valentine Holmes , Connor Watson and Tyler Moriarty as team mates and not as adversaries

      Conan Doyle would be livid

Please God NO!! He has been complete dog sh!t for the Cowboys and Qld this year and should be in reserve grade. Living in Townsville even most Cows fans are keen to get rid of him.

Remember the early 2000's when we bought all the crap Bulldog players? We don't want a repeat of that again. I would much rather give some of young guys a shot and see how they go.

He would be a better player to go after compared to someone like Gagai. I won't mind him on the cheap, but question why the Cows want him gone.

Dam, its a yes from me ! in 2025 we will be short in the center department and Billy Smith will always have a ? mark next to his name while Toia needs time to transition to fg , but when the Toia is ready to make that next step he will benefit from having Valentine experience playing beside him.

Currently on $875k a year and off contract end of next season according to Zero Tackle. He'd be a great pick up if the Cows want to pay 50% of his 2025 salary.

Who knows who we are looking at

I thought we would have looked at Lomax and even Iro possibly.

Holmes hasn't been his best this year but if the Cows paid a chunk.of his salary he would be a nice pick up

Wouldn’t say that bad otherwise he wouldn’t have been selected for origin
not his best season but for dally m centre recently and the cowboys inconsistent form hasn’t helped him
it may depend what he wants next, stay on qld for titans of phins, chase the case at dogs, tigers or dragons or look at a stronger club to win a premiership like riff or chooks

He’d be refreshed at a new club. I’d take him.

Under $500k for 2x years then yes as we are losing backline experience and I don't think any of us are confident and convinced with Billy Smith and Robert Toia. With Toops, Mark Nawaqanitawase, Young and Holmes as well ? Well that's not a bad backline.

I don't know who else is out there but if we were looking at Gagai then Holmes is on par even though he's been playing like he should be in Q Cup. With Chad joining as well, who knows ? he might be willing.

Rumours floating around that the Dragqueens will go after Holmes with an attractive offer as a replacement for Lomax so I doubt we'll get him to be realistic.

Lomax didn't start playing at the top level until he was moved to wing at St George , at the moment we are covered for wingers next year.
Now Iro is a very capable center but what we need is a player with that x factor that will take a lot of the pressure off Toia s transition to first grade.

Unless of course Holmes wants to win a comp.
