Maybe the coaching staff want the players to take ownership of the situation and make the decision as to whether or not they want to play with these 2 blokes this weekend. Which is how it should be, they are the guys taking the field with them, not the coaching staff.
Hopefully the players are honest with themselves and the 2 players.

Player ownership is of primary importance in successful teams. They need to be accountable of their performances, they need to be present in influencing the direction of the club and they they ned to be prominent in deciding who does or doesn't warrant playing beside them. That is my opinion anyway.
The notion that the coach and admin are responsible solely for these decisions is outdated. Modern teams have strong leadership groups within their players and they are a vocal faculty within football clubs.
I'm pleasantly surprised the club has taken this decision and encourage them to continue developing the responsibility and leadership of the playing group. We've had an unaccountable list for too long that was more than happy to foist their incompetencies to the long list of coaches that have come in and out of this club over the past 5+ years.
