I'm calling this to be a major reason why Peni looked bad yesterday.

I conquer, rather than ask why peni kicked the ball out on the full, we should ask why peni was kicking the ball in the first place.

Under the highball he made a really good grab in the air as did minichiello, so imo they didn't have the worst of games like people are making them out to have had. Yes they made some bad decisions in attack but they still had some impact in the game and were always looking to get involved.

Peni is as green as they come.He looks totally lost in defence due to inexperience.This can only be fixed with game time.He is a work in progress who will keep making mistakes,but patience is required with him to to learn each game he plays.Not all our kids can be instant success stories...

The reason that Peni kicked out on the full in the first half was because one of the mental giants (Friend or Anasta) went down the blindside on the last tackle (even though there was nothing on). He was left with the option of kicking the ball, or being tackled. All he did wrong was put the ball out on the full (nothing that Anasta hasn't done throughout his career, although he couldn't even manage that with a penalty kick).

It amazes me that some players like Perrett can make stupid mistake, after stupid mistake (even after 130+ FG games) and they appear to be immune from criticism because they are great club men, yet a young guy who is still raw, but has obvious talent gets castigated anytime he makes mistakes. The thing is a player like Tagive will get better and better, where as players like Perrett won't.

Leilua, Tagive, Bosden, Cordner, Takarangi, Warea-Hargreaves, Tasi, Moga, Arona are all young guys with immense levels of talent, but because of their inexperience are prone to rookie mistakes. That is the rollercoaster ride that is young players. Even top level rookies like Cherry-Evans make silly mistakes, but the good ones learn from their mistakes and keep improving.

I for one am really proud of our young guys, and think that they are coming along very nicely. A bit more experience with a new #6 & 9 and we will have one of the best side in the NRL.
