Great news for Toops and all of us supporters, love the big guy, at least we’re not losing him and JWH at the same time.

Toops should play as long as he is capable how many times has he delivered on the big stage for us absolutely clutch player.

Every time Toops scores now we need to celebrate as he would have just broken the record yet again.

Steggles got it and reacted as I would have hoped for.

I took the lead from his/her (wary of pronouns now!) post which said "Toups may well set a Roosters try scoring record that will never be broken with that extra year".

It was a feeble attempt to draw out the usual suspects, but then I remembered, I've blocked them.

This site has him with 148 tries in 248 games. There's also a discrepancy with most of the others in your list. I wonder which one is 100% accurate - perhaps the club's official website?

There's competition for that spot - Bill Mullins, Lionel Cooper, Brian Bevan - but, yes he's up there.

The Roosters one is NRL/NSWRL regular season Comp and finals Games only - Bill Mullins 128 in the Rugby League Project tally - 102 in Regular Season comp games and finals plus 26 tries in Pre-Season Cup , Endeavour Cup, Wills /Craven Mild Cup Pre-Season games and Amco Cup games.

Should they be counted in an overall tally for the player as well?

The extra 5 for Toops are

                      World Club Series (2016) - 1 try
                      World Club Challenge (2019/2020) - 2 tries
                      Pre-Season Challenge (2024) - 2 tries

Apparently Batemans Bay Chicken believes the history of the club goes all the way back to 2010.

Looking at the Rugby League project stats a couple of other wingers would be in the mix

                          Major Rod O'Loan MBE CBE - 86 tries in 88 games ( 1935-41) - 4 premierships (1935/36/37/40) - Rooster # 240

                          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rod_O'Loan

                          Gordon Wright - 84 tries in 80 Games (1917-1923) - Rooster # 96

If it's in Roosters colours for First Grade and above, I think every try should be counted.
