robbo’s formula is great at making us look like a good team. But our lack of wins against top 4 opposition over the last 3-4 seasons is truly concerning
What's basic about the structure and what do you think has changed from when we were a great attacking outfit?

Robinson won in 2018 & 2019 after more than 3 years in charge.

I don't think that should come into consideration..

Dom Young is absolute manure. Having him out is of benefit. I will grant you the other two.

We must invest time into a new halves Combo. It's staring us in the face! Sam Walker and Sandon Smith could form the games best combination. I truly hope we get the opportunity to see Manu, Sandon Smith, Sam Walker and The Cheese form our spine at some stage. It's criminal that Manu is moving on! He should be our fullback whilst Teddy helps the Bulldogs or Tigers rebuild.
I thought the issue last night was different to our issues against Manly and Penrith.

Very simply, we struggled to control field position against Penrith and Manly and our yardage game was very poor. But with the few chances we did get we were able to put points on the board very quickly. It was 6 - 4 in linebreaks our way Vs Manly and 3 - 3 in lnebreks vs Penrith.

Against Melbourne we controlled field positon and our yardage game was very good but we struggled to create opportunities. It was 6 - 1 in linebreaks Melbourne's way last night. They blew a lot of good opportunities and we didn't create anything. Our only linebreak was the Suaalii knock back to Manu who ran in for the try.

While may be the case. Who replaced him?

May be the warriors coach, Webster if he has a couple more good seasons?

Yes the Panthers game definitely highlighted our issue with yardage and the flow on effect from that especially when no one can kick us out of trouble. I think the Panthers helped us improve that aspect of our game moving forward.

Our outside backs worked hard again last night in yardage. Middle third then got us within the red zone only to be let down by the lack of creativity and good ball to our strike players.

Remember he inherited a gun side, it’s not as if he built it. A lot of the younger players that came through were already in our system.

Inherited a gun side from himself... he was only the coach for the previous 5 seasons?

Cronk won us 2018 and 2019.
The coach has had close to the best team on paper for 5 years now and for 5 years he has been clueless as to what to do.
He has no idea how to use Sam Walker. The whole team is frustrated and individuals are trying to do things on their own.
Would they play like this if Cronk was the halfback? No, because he organised the team and everyone played their role.
Now no one knows what to do and they all try and fix the problem on their own. The coach is responsible for getting the team to play to their strengths and he can't do that.

Somebody mentioned that there has been too much focus on the culture building and history. I’m ok with that however to get all things lined up is a challenge as evident of the past 5 years. Since 2020 the Robbo network has been slowly disappearing.
jwh, butcher, kez, tupou, gus, victor, teddy, joey and jenko is what’s left now. Possibly 5 of these gone next season along with Joe.
Past seasons it was still the case of high errors and low completions however those teams had individual brilliance to win games irrespective of the stats. We no longer have that.
The only point scorers or match winners now are Toops, Joey and Joe ( goal kicking). Walker has proven he can be but plays with a handbrake.
Sure the rules were different to the period I refer to but the officialdom no different this year. It’s the business model of the NRL to sell drama by whatever media platform it has with its media partners. Robbo hasn’t instilled a mindset in overcoming the bias like in the past. The bias i put down to a socio economic hang up about the eastern suburbs and it having a powerhouse rugby league club. It’s the Aussie way - tall poppy syndrome and with media ownership of the game it benefits from it via 27 rounds of drama with the Roosters at the forefront of being screwed.

it’s just sideways block plays, and always out the back. We have very few if any variety in our attack, and get few strategic offloads or ball playing out of our forwards.

i don’t think anything has changed. Our attack 5 and especially 10 years ago was very similar. Just back then it was revolutionary. Now it’s been analysed and nullified and Robbo has not been able to evolve it to meet the improved defences we are now up against

It'd be really weird to see him in our colours but the best option out there is probably Wayne Bennett to be honest, plenty of experience, knows how to get the best out of players, he's highly respected and he might get excited about signing on with a team that he could win a premiership with given that he hasn't won one since 2010 and is unlikely to win one with the Dolphins or Souths (Who he's linked with in the media)
