Angus is our best left edge option. He runs a great line, always draws 2/3 defenders and can offload. I'd also opt for Sandon at 6 once he's fit. Keary could potentially stunt the team. He's become timid and there is no halves combination between Keary and Walker. Robbo may have some big calls to make.

Keary is done. He is not made for this new model of the game. He isnt and has never been an organiser. The moment Cronk retired and declared it was Keary's team, we have been in decline. Not because he isnt a top player. He has no long kicking game. He is not an organiser, he doesnt play straight enough and is better at putting big forwards through holes than he is moving them around the park and up field. His best trait is running into the line late and drawing players in. He has lost his pace and is too timid with pulling the trigger now. That is also completely fine. He is 32-33 years old and has achieved what others could only dream of. He's also had a history of nasty head knocks and blew his knee out on a freak play that robbed him of a year of footy. It's normal to see what has happened to his game in the last year or so. He was the best half in the NRL for a couple of years and is an absolute champion bloke and wonderful representative for the club.
I will always respect him. However I support the Roosters and for them to win a premiership or have any chance, it's with him out of the side.Last edited by HunchoRooster; 03-28-2024, 10:53 PM.

I don't think Keary is stifling Sammy's involvement.
Teddy also plays side to side
Both of them together in the modern game just doesn't work, we need a half that straightens the attack

I’ve been saying for the last 12 months that Keary is detrimental to the team and I’ve copped plenty for sharing the view. A year down the track and nothing has changed; his attack is still poor and his defence is worse. Due to his history at the club, he gets to calls the shots whenever he plays and takes the reins away from Walker, whose game gets confused and dumbed down as a result. We saw how well the attack flowed which the Walker/Smith combo; none of this sideways bullshit, they gave their outside men time, straightened the attack and were far less predictable. I’ll say it again; we will not win another competition with Luke Keary in the team.
To be perfectly honest, I’d rather Jake Arthur in the team until Sandon is back from injury. Jake; catch, pass, tackle and leave the rest to Walker. Even Radley at 6 would be an improvement. Huge mistake in resigning Keary for another year.
The other theme emerging from this thread is that Nat Butcher delivers bugger all in attack; I was burned at the stake last year for even mentioning it. Whilst Nat gets through a lot of tackles each game, most of tackles are pretty soft and doesn’t stop the ball carrier in their tracks. He holds them and lets them march a few more metres every time. Did you see how the Panthers players belted our big boys in every tackle; they were hard and relentless. None of this holding stuff that Nat does.; we need more Liam Martin type tackling. They kept us pinned down for ages with no go forward because they attacked us with their defence (just like we used to do many moons ago). Whilst Nat doesn’t have the negative impact on the team that Keary has, I think Gus needs to be come back into the team asap to add punch in attack and aggression in defence. Not a popular opinion, but I’d have Wong on the bench instead of Nat to add impact.
Burn away!

9 straight losses to the Pamfers - seriously pathetic.

I’d be surprised if Keary is still around next season if we bomb out again this season. Hopefully he can turn it around as I don’t see Robbo dropping him and god know we need these halves firing as they combine like oil and water right now.Exonerate the West Memphis Three - www.wm3.org
