Think you're referring to the first semi of 1996 when Manly were leading us 16-14 and Rigon made a break, the ball was passed in field and eventually toed into the in goal with Rigon and Danny Moore jostling for the ball, Moore clearly pulled him back and prevented him from getting to the ball. Manly very nearly stuffed things up in the in goal and from memory Lam tried to claim a try but it was ruled that the ball had been forced by Manly and a line drop out followed. There was no video ref back then (just an in goal touch judge) and referee Paul McBlane decided to ignore the interference and just go with the line drop. It should have at the least been a penalty, 10m out right in front with Moore sent to the bin. We would have levelled the game and who knows what would have happened with Manly down to 12 men.....wouldn't have mattered anyway....Freddie was playing on one leg with a severe groin injury and we wouldn't have gone much further but was still very frustrating at the time.

It wasnt Lam that claimed the try it was the center I forget his name -The center had told me that he had hit the ball so hard and fast that he broke his arm grounding it -he got to it but none of the touchys achknowledged it or seen it.....was it it Peter some thing? Peter Clark I think.
