I'd hate for him to leave and pursue another code at the risk of him getting accustomed to the sport, big money, lifestyle, the allure to play for the All Blacks or worse e.g., injured, sidelined and unable to return fully fit to the Roosters at a later date BUT at the age of 27 and what he has already achieved/accomplished maybe he's looking for something different with more bang for buck $$$. He's going to be behind Teddy again in 2025 and what if Teddy re-signs again for 2026 ?
Is he going to continue waiting around for a shot at the fullback role for perhaps a season or two 'at most' meanwhile there's young and upcoming outside backs at our disposal breathing down his neck plus add to that the other possibility that one of the Union converts (for example Nawaqanitawas) could bypass him as our next potential fullback replacement after Teddy or the perennial golden boy "Suaalii" returns to us early to take that role ?
Too many variables for Joey and if it's a big pay day or different experience he's after, I wouldn't blame him for leaving ... BUT ... I do hope he remains with us !
