Who else thinks the guru should give up these treks and concentrate on us having a good start in 24? Pick up the ice pick when you're retired, not when you're the coach of the mightys. Our 22, 23 seasons were attrocious and the games that we lost that we should've won has ultimately destroyed our years, coinciding with early departures. If he wants an adventure, then take the team to Vegas early and get them ready. I want 8 wins from the first 10 games.

I was running near his house the other week (slowly after a massive dinner and a couple of pints). I dare say that any rich dude can catch a helicopter ride up the mountain, fob their baggage off to some sherpas and then do the heavily institutionalised walk to the base camp. This includes a fat Indian dude who I studied law with... the guy's a solid lawyer but not exactly an athlete. His parents literally just grabbed him Robbo's packaged tour and sent him up there for his 21st (I think as a heavily nuanced mixture of fat camp and 'how come you never come back to India and visit your family?!? I have made sure that this trip also includes a 30 day stop-over in Mumbai so that we can spend some time together, son...'). It's a fabled/institutionalised trek but today's tour packages don't involve heroic mountaineers with zero modern technology, relying on their abnormally large lung capacities to get them to the top of unclimbed mountains. I dare say most people can do the walk so long as they don't have any serious health defects.
I dunno! It's great that money will be raised for charities and Robbo's having his whole journey. However I tend to agree that his focus should be on either the footy or (if he's into fitness & clearing his mind) then hey... not climbing the biggest mountains to show he's tough. Instead, shed 30kg, smash out some epic cardio sessions with the boys (first to arrive & last to leave kinda stuff) and make a long-term health commitment rather than going on a bit of eco-tourism. I'll be frank... he's looking a bit round and red-nosed, which in my mind doesn't sell a very convincing message about discipline/dedication. Just saying!

No one is suggesting he can't have annual leave.Exonerate the West Memphis Three - www.wm3.org

I've done the trek when aged 60 and it's no walk in the park. Yes , I was v fit, but the high altitude and 65km each way and so many ups and downs makes it really tough even if you have Sherpas or yaks carrying your gear. At altitude most in my group of 16 got high altitude sick , you struggle to breathe and feel like you are drowning without oxygen. I met Trent at a high altitude gym where you can train in an oxygen reduced room. Good luck to him for doing something worthwhile for humanity...raising money for brain cancer. It's his free time , 4 months before the next season gets underway. Spare the criticism!
