Since when does any player come to our club and tell us what they are going to do?
Maybe a prime SBW or Cronk because they will deliver you a title.
Dom Young is just another footballer with a bit of speed and athleticism and there are plenty of them about.
Smith wants to repay us for all the loyalty we have shown him. When fully fit, you can see the effort and desire he has, he deserves first go IMO.
To be honest, it could all be a bit of a moot point anyway. Time is catching up with Toops and all those hard carries down the years may be catching up with him. I reckon there will plenty of chances for all our backs in '24.
If Sualli want's to stay in the NRL now, I would try and find a way to keep him.

No way will Suaalii play centre. If it came to a choice for left centre i'd take Billy every day.

Billy Smith is the best left centre at our club. Suaalii didn't play to half the level that Billy Smith was this year at centre.

The only decision to be made as I see it is who plays right wing Young or Suaalii?

Watson is like Toupo, pure backup for Sandon Smith

Sandon Smith can replace anyone in the spine, and is necessary

2 Props ( May & JWH ) and Sandon only leaves one more on the bench. If Angus leaves, it will probably be Wong ( Sitili/ Nat & Radley )

Toops will always be the first player picked week in week out if he’s fit.

I think flaming was alluding to the fact that Young will play left centre and Billy will have to bide his time

And he is atrocious under the high ball.

We have an absolute abundance of forwards which is great!

I can see Crichton following the rumours to rugby. He is a great player but we also have some great up and comers.

Sandon had such a strong finish to the year I think he needs to retain that 14 jersey with Watson chomping at his heels.

Or another possibility is to go back to Watson as a running forward.

I really like Egan Butcher and I honestly believe he will be a rep player, but it’s just his hands.

He will be right there and probably play half the season filling in for players etc.

2024 is exciting and also daunting. With our forwards it’s kind of the passing of the buck.

JWH has a lot to prove with May and Lenui coming in and they both have absolute weapon ends to their seasons.

Too right! Toops is an out and out champion on and off the field and he'd probably be one of the first picked in any other team as well. Can't believe some here reckon he should miss out because a couple of young bucks are available.

the wings & centre will be highly contested with Dom Young starting with us next year, I can't see if Toop, Billy, Manu or Suaalli being dropped

                        Agree.

I like Billy a lot, but the fact is Suaalii is a cut above.

I suspect with a full off season of Centre-specific hard training, Suaalii will be fine in the centres.

The guy just offers way too much to leave out.

I don't necessarily think Young will play centre, his defensive reads and shirt grabbing needs work. I do like Billy and his en of season form was nothing short of great, but I think to say he's earned a spot in the 17 over two bona fide superstars in Dom Young and Suaalii based off 5/6 games is premature, considering before his end of season resurgence (after the game against the Storm where he got dominated by Reimis Smith), many of the pen, myself included were calling for his head and hoping Momirovski was healthy for the finals. You're absolutely right, Suaalii's beginning of season at centre left a lot to be desired, but he also was being assaulted from all sides by the media and fans; that can take a toll on a experienced player, let alone a teenager. And lets not pretend like the whole team wasn't crap to start the season. I do believe that come Rd 1, Billy will be playing reggies if Suaalii is here. If Suaalii continues to show that he can't play centre then we can chat about Young vs Suaalii on the wing and Billy at centre, but I do believe that with a clear head and a full pre-season at centre under his belt, he gives us the best chance of winning.

Personally I also think that in the most likely event that Suaalii does go to Union, we shouldn't alienate him as a club. We've seen the damage that he can do at fullback in the game against the Tigers, and the world cup. If we can lure him back come 2027 (Teddy will be mid 30's, Manu early 30's) that would be a coup.

I just know Robbo will try Suaalii again at centre in hopes of a change. It wouldn't be what I pick but for next year I see us lining up as

                              1. Tedesco

                              2. Tupou

                              3. Suaalii

                              4. Manu

                              5. Young

We have a wealth of talent and there'll be 4-5 quality players unlucky to make the top 17 at present.

It just highlights the fact that, of the things we can control, our success in 2024 will come down to our halves.
