I am waiting for a post from you that actually rates a Roosters player.

To borrow Big Jack Gibson's quote - Waiting for one would be like leaving the porch lamp/light on for Harold Holt

It's a game of football, not a matter of life or death hanging on the result

Holbrook is a failed head coach, some option.

If Coach Robinson left now, he would have done more for the Roosters than the whole collective on this site would ever do.

It's not the Green Bay Packers and none of us own stock/shares in the Club.

We did purchase some series A and Series C Stock in the Atlanta Braves though

Some credit, some small pat on the arse, for Robbo for putting some starch back into the jersey at season’s end. He has at least redeemed himself from the ignominy of the previous year’s disgrace and set a decent platform to begin next season.

But this has been a major lost opportunity this year, a directionless mess from the very beginning with the most stacked roster in league.

Momentum at the end of the year is a wonderful thing but someone might want to tell Robbo that the reason you win games in March is so you don’t absolutely have to win them in August. Second year in a row we’ve been on death row weeks out from the finals, and with one of the most loaded rosters in league (best this year, second best last year).

We’ll be loaded again next year, and no doubt there will be fools here just happy to smell the finals. They completely miss the point… the team is stacked at present… this will naturally not always be the case. You have to make hay while the sun shines… and Robbo has failed at that again.
the earliest lie in posting history. Starts with the very first word of the post, so can never be beaten. Congrats Les

Only so much can the coaching staff do in the limited time they have between games to improve performances—video sessions and what not.

Take a workplace as an example. If an employee is not performing up to the required standard, they could be provided with training, coaching, mentoring, etc. to improve their performance.

If their performance doesn't improve despite all this assistance, who is at fault—the employee or the management?

The Coaching staff don't have a magic wand to snap players back into form
Well...if the Coach can't get the players to play to the skill level and tactics he has prepared them too, its still in his bunker.

For someone who has coached at the same club for such a long period, and vowed to address the slow sluggish start to our season (s) esp this year....its still a mishit on Robbos part. IMHO.

                Spot on.

Any team with Drew Aubusson in their roster, is not 'stacked'.

Thank Christ he won't be here next year.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

You're forgetting one small detail. The "collective" isn't on the Roosters payroll where as Robbo is on $1.3 million plus a year. There is something seriously wrong with the world when a RL coach makes triple what a heart or brain surgeon earn. A coach on such a ridiculous salary deserves to be dragged over the coals when a team underachieves.

I think Robbo would be scratching his head himself about how the chooks worst and best form are poles apart...

Yeah but Jack it's a sporting contest mate, between 2 teams, every week. It's not a like getting people to perform to their "skill level" in real life, whether they're salesmen or builders or pastry cooks or whatever. In this game 1 team wins 1 team loses, every week. This utter bullshit "he vowed to address our slow start and he didn't" is so mindless. It's a close comp, he can't "vow" to address anything. What, do you take that to mean he guaranteed you that we'd win early games? Pinning statements like that on him and somehow complaining about it, it's laughable and very sad at the same time.

Disappointing start to the season, we never clicked til the coach decided to put everyone back in their correct spots.
The squad was disjointed early, who knows why... probably a combination of things
Suaalii to centre was a disaster.
Smith wasn't a full time hooker.
Hutchison should never have been in the top 17. The lack of a proper 14 really cost us.
Losing Angus before game 1 was a huge blow.
Trying to turn Walker into a Cronk clone failed.
The coach got ahead of himself. He's a good man, just made some major mistakes.
Things seemed to improve after Lodge left, maybe he was a disruptive influence?
We should have finished top 2 and got a home semi and a week off.
Or at worst top 4 with a second chance and a home semi.
Those injuries at the end proved a bridge too far.
                          I'd rate the season a C+ overall.
Things to look forward to, there are plenty.
Sandon Smith, Billy Smith, Sammy Walker, Siua Wong, May, Whyte, Pauga all will be better next year.
So will Brandon Smith, Suaalii, Teddy, Manu.... maybe the whole team.
Additions of Young and Leniu could be great.
From the adversity of this year I think we are still on an upward progression
surely we will have better luck next year.
Add multiple suspensions to our year and sin bins/penalties I would rate our season a D. Having a training program which injures players is bad enough not to have to have players suspended leaving the team even more under strength. Who’s to say if we had JWH we might have been playing the preliminary not the storm?
“Soon will the present day order be rolled up, and a new one spread out in its stead”- (Baha’u’llah)

footy's a team game and responsibility for performance lies with everyone on the team. it's wrong to say that players have no say in whether or not they play well. to what extent you break down responsibility for team performance between coaches' input, players input, injuries etc is always going to be a hard one especially if you're not in and around the team. as a general rule the coach gets too much credit when a team plays well and too much blame when they don't.

Individual talent is fairly easy to identify… thus there is always an understanding of the strength of any playing group in any sport. Whether the whole exceeds or falls short of the sum of the parts is almost always upon the coach. It is the same in all team sports… let’s not rewrite the rules because we’re talking about our beloved Robbo.

You’re missing the point… he should never have been anywhere near the 17… the coach made that concession for him.
