  • Final Grades for 2023

Sorry to say but it is another fail for the coach, second year in a row.

Some credit, some small pat on the arse, for Robbo for putting some starch back into the jersey at season’s end. He has at least redeemed himself from the ignominy of the previous year’s disgrace and set a decent platform to begin next season.

But this has been a major lost opportunity this year, a directionless mess from the very beginning with the most stacked roster in league.

Momentum at the end of the year is a wonderful thing but someone might want to tell Robbo that the reason you win games in March is so you don’t absolutely have to win them in August. Second year in a row we’ve been on death row weeks out from the finals, and with one of the most loaded rosters in league (best this year, second best last year).

We’ll be loaded again next year, and no doubt there will be fools here just happy to smell the finals. They completely miss the point… the team is stacked at present… this will naturally not always be the case. You have to make hay while the sun shines… and Robbo has failed at that again.

Give Robbo a target...7 wins out of first 10 games,if not achieved, turf him...Politis did same to Ricky Stuart!!! BTW we have a ready made great coach already in the box waiting...Holbrook....Robbo,you don't OWN E.S.D.R.L.F.C we all do in the community and abroad! so do what's BEST for ALL OF US,not your ego.

You’re not wrong. It’s a weak competition when Warriors are top 4 and rubbish Sharks finish 6th. But still I wouldn’t want any other coach.

No he didn't. Stuart wasn't sacked until the last few rounds of the season.

This bash Robbo stuff is getting really boring. He will be the coach next year. The only pressure he is under is from internet nobodies.

Another year without the shite our club was dealing with this year, with the burning frustration of bowing out in a game that was ours for the taking, I expect we get to the big dance next year. Robbo back to his best!

We do not have the most "stacked roster in the league"..................................we do however suffer from the most injuries and cop the worst refereeing.

I'd give the season a C, C-. Robinson needs to get the team firing far earlier. We don't need to be playing like a grand final team in Rd 5 but we at least need to show some level of quality.

The comp was not good this year, there has only really been 2-3 teams that were really consistent all year. All you need to do is be half decent for most of the season to make the Top 4. We were absolutely diabolical for 75% of the season and we ended up still making the 8 and Week 2 of the finals.

Robbo managed to turn things around. The one thing he doesn't have any control over are injuries. A full strength Roosters team could've went close to winning it this year. imo.

Disappointing way to finish the season, we deserved to be playing this weekend.
Disappointing start to the season, we never clicked til the coach decided to put everyone back in their correct spots.
The squad was disjointed early, who knows why... probably a combination of things
Suaalii to centre was a disaster.
Smith wasn't a full time hooker.
Hutchison should never have been in the top 17. The lack of a proper 14 really cost us.
Losing Angus before game 1 was a huge blow.
Trying to turn Walker into a Cronk clone failed.
The coach got ahead of himself. He's a good man, just made some major mistakes.
Things seemed to improve after Lodge left, maybe he was a disruptive influence?
We should have finished top 2 and got a home semi and a week off.
Or at worst top 4 with a second chance and a home semi.
Those injuries at the end proved a bridge too far.
                    I'd rate the season a C+ overall.
Things to look forward to, there are plenty.
Sandon Smith, Billy Smith, Sammy Walker, Siua Wong, May, Whyte, Pauga all will be better next year.
So will Brandon Smith, Suaalii, Teddy, Manu.... maybe the whole team.
Additions of Young and Leniu could be great.
From the adversity of this year I think we are still on an upward progression
surely we will have better luck next year.

A “stacked roster” is not much use when half of it isn’t available. While I agree we underperformed this season it’s not all on Robbo. Some of it is, and he hasn’t shied away from that.

I’m super excited about our prospects in ‘24.

I think even most of the Robbo haters would agree had we not had Toups, Billy, Manu and Suaalii out last week that we would be playing this week and a good chance at next week.
With no disrespect to Pauga, Allen, Momo and Paulo I couldn't pick a team with a worse 2 to 5 all year.
Of course not to mention had there been no need to sack the Clown.

Sometimes we are dealt a shit hand as we have the last four years and some act like petulant prima donnas but if that is your pronoun of choice then hey we have to accept it.

                          Onto next year.

Especially after the world cup the top teams are going to opt for an extended off-season. By continually going on about slow starts to the season what you are really saying is you don't understand the concept of stress management. That is fine, we all agree that you don't understand.
