For mine, making the GF qualifier would make this season a success.

I understand everyone wants to win a GF but let’s be honest, there are some very very good sides all competing for that same goal. If we could be in the top 4, eg playing a GF qualifier from where we’ve been this season, I think that’s a great result.

On the other hand, losing tomorrow night would not only hurt for the individual loss but would have to be considered somewhat of a failure for 2023.
To me, making the 8, beating Souths...then beating the Sharks in a finals game...dictate that our season has been a success, ...given illness, injuries to star players, the number of "rookies" in our team, etc.
Not our best season, but not our worst either.
You can't really expect us to beat the Storm in Melb tonite with half out first choice team out injured.
We can win, but the Storm are clear favourites.

    I vote "success".

      Would you prefer:
      (a) Playing average/terrible for the first 75% of the season and then lifting for the final 25% and end up in a prelim or winning the comp; or
      (b) Playing great and consistent footy for the entire season, but falling short at the semi-final hurdle?

I'd take option (a) every time!
Clearly a is the best option.

Would be very interesting to see how often in the last 20-25 years that the "best" or most dominant team has won the actual GF/comp every season. I can recall many a time where the best team fell in the prelim or GF. Think it happened to Parra and St George a few times in the early 2000s. Happened to Penriff in 2020. Only lost 2 games all year and one of them was the GF.

It’s a good way of looking at it.

I think had we won 2 or 3 of the games we should have early in, things would be a lot different but everyone knows comps aren’t won in any month other than sept/oct and have been coming good at the pointy end.

I’m glad robbo actually came into the presser and admitted we play for premierships and we weren’t up to scratch this year! Admitted our last run only covered up the really poor start and middle of the year
glad he finally admitted this and wants change
wonder if he has had some pressure on him internally?
mentioned we need to improve next year
only thing he didn’t admit was some poor form from his coaching selecting errors

My take on this year/next year, it took a while, but the "Roosters Way" is finally history ie; the end of the big hit defense era. BS is not a starting dummy half, we have plenty of forwards and don't need any more, don't try and be clever when steadiness is needed, play the players in their usual positions (like last night), we have plenty of outside backs and don't need any more, need a good back up half (with some speed), if senior players are out of form, drop them, not the juniors around them, give the junior players more of a go. TMay the pick of the newbies. I thought zac and the stats guy were the dumbest on here, then I read the big dog posts and admit I got that wrong.

Same. Gonna be a lot of upset Wahs fans at 6pm today. Like Souffffs, no point playing well in May if you can’t play well in September.

The end of the season no doubt eased the pressure a bit.

Every effort should be focused on starting like a house on fire next year. Let’s go into Origin with an 8-2 record etc

Success! We showed we are the bravest team in the comp! We set the competition alight in the last weeks and gave the press something else to talk about other than Penrith and Brisbane.

The big dog is obviously taking the pyss.

The stats guy or it’s other name Dr Google is STILL the dumbest on here.

I’d say definite success except Robbo’s bad selection decisions during the season had us going backwards. Robbo needs to get his selections right. The boys will take care of the rest.

And it’s lame alter egos Rooster36 and SamKerrSimp just add to its level of dumbness.
