I am pretty sure that to be a good fullback you have to be able to catch a ball, SKD would make it look like a slippery cake of soap.
Mini is as safe as a bank under the high ball.
Mini has been a legend of this club and deserves to go out on his own terms, let him help with the mentoring of the likes of Tuivasa Shek and Alofa Alofa and then they can take over when he retires.
Mini unlike our fraud of a 5/8 is a true clubman who has given his all on and off the field for the club, was instrumental in getting our current major sponsor on board and should be our head trainer when he retires (we would be the fittest team in the comp).
GO MINI!!!!!! (My second favourite Rooster behind Morley).

Call me daft but it still doesn't make sense to me.
I was never against the re-signing of Mini, i just want him to go back to the wing instead of fullback.
I personally think SKD would make an alright fullback with a bit of room to move and chiming into the backline. He also wouldn't be getting caught out in defence as often either. The only thing that would worry me is how he would go under the high ball. He's slightly taller than most though, so that's a start.
Now thats daft.Originally posted by turk-283Kurt 79 - Kags 0..

I'm sick and tired of hearing that the club owes Mini this and that.
Mini has been more than well compensated over the years. Most clubs would of cut him when he was going through his injury trot.
Better players than Mini haven't had the luxury of going out on their own terms. That's the harsh reality of league.
Stop the sentimental BS, every rooster supporter loves Mini and his service to our club. The realistic ones can see that he is a shadow of his former self. Doesn't make them anti-Roosters or Mini haters.

That being said I still think its a good signing both in a marketing and football sense.
As I mentioned previously, he wouldn't be on that much coin.I'd say he'd be getting 200k if not less and even depth players are getting that much these days. I do however wish that smith would use him wisely, and not persist with him like he has done with Anasta.
Use him in a limited capacity on the wing and occasionaly fullback. Also every 3-4 games give him the week off or in Newtown, to rest him up and provide the youngsters with some first grade experience.

Now I know you're just trolling.

why are some people against the signing? if you were at the game against the Dragons you would know how he played. He was amazing under the high ball and most of his kick returns were alright. I completely disagree with people saying he is slow and old. Does anyone remember the game-winning try that mini got when we beat souths this year. i BET not one of you would have been complaning about him them

Newtown is for reserve-graders like Mortimer, Mitchell and Tom Symonds..Not our Mini...

ONCE AGAIN, I was never against mini's re-signing, i just think he would kill it back on the wing and isn't up to standard as a fullback these days.
He can't catch an inside ball, he can't break the line and he just isn't quick enough to be a fullback in this day and age when they need to be super fast and able to handle the ball aswell.
And before the inevitable dribbling saying "Oh but what about the merge game?"....Like i've said, Yes he had a good game but what about the 30 before that? ...Below par imo!
Some of you carrnts are kidding yourselves.
One good game and you've got your coqqs in your hand again. I however, don't have such a short memory or rose coloured glasses on.
I love Mini, always will. I'll never forget what he's done for my beloved chooks but i'm a realist and those days are over.
I still think he's got something to offer on the wing though because he's a good finisher and safe as house's under the high ball.

Mini resigned with us for three years right when he was in the best form of his life.
He would have set us back easily 350-400k on the salary cap for 06,07,and 08.
He played a handful of games in three years for over a million dollars.
Yes he signed an incentive based deal since then, but in no way do I think our club actually "owe" him anything especially in a financial sense.
That being said I still think his signing was a reasonable one.

I'm cool as a cucumber champion!
Mate, i really hope there is a chance of him starting to fire again, i really do. I'll happily eat a large slice of humble pie if it happens.
Make sure you remember this so you can give me a good old spray if he does.
It's one of the only times i hope to be wrong because i love the bloke.
