  • We desperately need Bellyache ASAP!!

The Roosters yesterday played as good as they could and lost. The Storm yesterday played one of their worst games of the year and won by 16 points and thus making it 8 wins in a row to start the year and well on their way to winning yet another minor premiership.

The difference for the two sides totally differing fortunes? The coaches, Brian Smith and Craig Bellamy!

Put simply, Brian Smith coached sides choke in big games like yesterday and he has never won a premiership, his culture is very faulty as it certainly doesn't work and there is no true belief. Craig Bellamy is a winner, and has that winning culture and belief ingrained into his players!! And it is because of this culture that Bellamy has created which is why they win yesterday against a Warriors side that was totally fired up and throwing plenty at them. The big 3 for the Storm did not have vintage performances yesterday, it was only because of Bellamy's coaching that the side has structured attack to achieve their points, and have the ability in defense to absorb and withstand the pressure better than what any other side is capable of.

The Roosters took to the field yesterday coming off a thrashing and in front of a packed house at their home ground and on one of the grandest stages of them all, Anzac Day. Brian Smith had his job made soooooooooooooooooo easy for him yesterday. The players were always going to be pumped for this game, you would have to have no pulse not to be.

What happens over the next 80 minutes??? The Brian Smith factor!

Brian Smith's team selections cost us the game, let alone all the other deficiencies in his coaching!!

Not picking a second hooker on the bench, and picking Anasta in the side. If we had Anthony Mitchell and Daniel Mortimer in our side yesterday instead of Taka and Anasta yesterday i have no doubt in my mind we win that game yesterday!! The way Smithy sparingly used Taka yesterday it was a waste of time having him in the side. Personally i would have had Taka or Bosden at lock with the other on the bench and Arona out of the 17.

ANASTA MUST BE DROPPED!!!!!!!! How can Smithy not get this through his thick f**king skull??????????????????
Not only is Anasta not contributing anything to the side, he is a complete hindrance with giving away stupid penalties!!! Our centres or wide running backrowers are never going to see any quality ball while ever he is in our side!! It is killing us!! Smithy's inability to have the balls to drop Anasta is costing us games and should cost Smithy his job!! Don't think for a second that that is an impossible thing to do, it can be rather quite easy to do!!

Jake Friend's game has gone backwards. We got the dragons on a good day yesterday, they were there for the taking!! They had a load of players backing up from the weekends rep games and their forwards looked pretty flat, certainly not at their best. Soward is out of form, plus they had that injury to Beau Scott early in the game so they were down a man. There were holes galore in the dragons defense mainly in the first half for a good dummy half to tear the dragons to shreds. Friend is incapable of taking advantage of this with his lack of attacking ability. No speed and certainly no creativity. His kicking game is deplorable and his service can become really poor as he gets tired, he most certainly is not an 80 minute quality hooker and can not believe for the life of me why on earth we did not have a second hooker yesterday.

With a decent hooker and 5/8th yesterday we would have been leading by 20+ points at half time with the game nearly completely out of the dragons reach!!

I fully believe that due to Smithy's coaching the Roosters are not getting the very best out of our players, in particular Friend, BJ, SKD, Mose, Taka, Bosden, Morts, Mitchell, Symonds etc etc etc even Anasta for crying out loud. They do not have confidence instilled in them and they are lacking in the fundamentals of the game. Just look at what Bellamy is capable of like what he did when he had Finch. Our side has loads of individual talent , but there is so much room for improvement in our side, attack, defense, attitude, discipline, for which a great coach like Bellamy can tap into and utilize, improving all the before mentioned players games as well as taking players like Pearce, JWH, Kennedy, Aubs to another level.

We need to stop wasting our time with Smithy and do whatever it takes to get Bellamy for next year!

I love the Roosters with the greatest passion you could ever imagine!! All i want is the very best for our club, and in my heart of hearts i just know that Bellamy is our best option to place our great club where it belongs and that is at the very top, a consistent top 4 side, always making the finals and most of all winning premierships!!
The year 2013 marks the beginning of the Roosters next 'decade of excellence', and it will prove to be more successful than the last!

    Here's looking at you, kid.

I to like Bellamy but as far as I am concerned the Roosters need to honour Smith's contract.

Like Smith, Bellamy's contract ends at the end of 2013.

Hasn't Smith won same amount of gf's as Bellamy? Warriors were missing Johnson there Halfback and they still managed to put 3 tries on the storm. Bellamy is not the answer in my opinion.

I seem to remember many people complaining about Smith carrying an extra dummy half on the bench in Mitchell or Mortimer. He finally goes without one and suddenly that's part of the reason why we lost yesterday?

Smithy has won zero premierships from coaching many many years. As far as i am concerned Bellamy won the 2007 and 2009 premierships.

So the Warriors put 3 tries on the Storm that makes the Storm crap?? The Warriors are a very attacking side so they score plenty of tries most weeks. The Warriors played very well yesterday and threw plenty at the Storm. Imo the Warriors would have beat most sides yesterday. The Storm as i said in my thread played their worst game this year and yet still win by a comfortable 18 points. Bellamy did extremely well to get his side up for that game as it is as rare as hens teeth that a side wins 8 games in a row. His team would be forgiven for losing as the hunger normally is not there after stringing together so many wins. Certainly a problem Smithy will never face with us!! We play imo our best game for the year and lose. The dragons are a side not well known for their attack and yet score 5 tries against us.

Why do you say Bellamy is not the answer?
Are you happy to continue on with Smithy next year and beyond?
          If not Smithy than who?

I was never one of those people complaining about carrying an extra dummy half. When Friend is in form let him play the 80 mins. Imo he is not in his best form so he is not capable of a quality 80 mins. And yes imo it was part of the reason why we lost yesterday. Did you watch yesterday's game?? Do you think Friend is having a good season??

Do you think I would be commenting if I hadn't watched the game? I thought Friend went better yesterday than he has been lately. I certainly don't think he had a bad game. I really don't know why everyone is so down on our performance. I thought it was by far our best effort this season. We lost it through lack of experience, some crap defence from SKD at the end and them getting a lot of luck right at the end including a freakish result from a flukey kick. I think it's ridiculous trying to look for blame for that game. I was very proud of the boys and I thought the coach had a good game plan.

Smith was given the task of cleaning out the rubbish & rebuilding?
He is getting mixed results with a basically young team.To get rid of him before his term is up (barring a major f#%k up) is just silly & knee jerk admin.
IF, by the middle of 2013, he isn't getting results, then he needs to be cut adrift......and yes I do realise that by then to get a good coach for 2014 will be a tough task.
Keep Taylor around for as long as possible....we may need him.

Nothing there that hasnt been said or done to death on here 1000 times over.

And for the record we were leading & were the better team for 75 minutes until we clocked off early when we were 8 points ahead with less than 5 to go. It was inexperience more than anything that cost us, not Brian Smith.

Seeing as you have such an idepth knowledge of what our team requires maybe you should go to there next training session & share your pearls of wisdom with the coach & the team.

I just don't understand why Bellamy would come to the Roosters.. He gets total control of the coaching situation at Melbourne. An unlimited budget funded by the 15 other clubs, zero scrutiny from News Ltd, the rub of the green week in week out and 3 of the best players in the world in key positions.. What on earth would possess him to come to the Roosters where he would get none of this?

As far as the records go Melbourne were stripped of those premierships due to blatant salary cap rorting. They only "won" those premerierships as they had a massive & unfair advantage over the rest of the teams. What you think is irrelevant.

                        Agreed.
That won't last forever with News reviewing all of the ventures & cost cutting.
The gravy train will come to an end & I hope I am around to see it.

Thankfully, or not, Brian Smith will have his contract honoured.
