Yes. Both formally retired in 2021. You have to be retired for 5 years to qualify.

Likewise Aubbo, who finished in 2020.

I think Mini has to be in for sure. From the older players I would be happy to see Salvo and Hughie recognised as well. Maybe Ian Schubert who has given the club great service on and off the field, Bunny Reilly maybe. Will be interesting to see who they come up with. I looked at going to the dinner but too expensive unfortunately

I think there will be two modern players like Fitzy, Mini or Ricko, two from the 70's 80's or 90's like Salv, Fairfax, Hughie or Bomber and two from 1908 to the late 60's like Sandy Pearce,\ and Ferris Ashton

you'd figure the roosters team of the century would be some sort of a guide so fairy and bunny and a few others must be good chances. fitzy should be inducted because of his playing career combined with his coaching role in a golden period for the club. mini, ricko, mcgahan and salvo must be chances as well as a few from the 74-75 teams.

Ron Saddler what a player he was for Easts. I was fortunate enough to see him play when a youngster. One odd memory of him later in his career that he worn adidas running spikes with footy sprigs.

Hit the cross bar in the 2000 GF from the sideline. Would have got us back within a converted try with 6 mins to go and heaps of momentum but it wasn't to be.

His kicking was immaculate in the 2002 GF though

Not sure what year it was but i was very young, would have been between 1967-69 at the old Sports Ground, i wasn't really watching much of the football, more intent on playing on the hill but i vividly remember the crowd screaming, i looked up, i think it was a Souths player running down the side line looking set to score and from the other side of the field an Easts player came from nowhere and tackled the guy straight over the sideline like a truck, that player was Ron Saddler.

We must be from the same era because that’s similar to how I remember it.

My father worked on the door at the leagues club so we got to meet a few of the players at different times. The club also ran training days for kids and I remember him being very nice.

It was nothing to see the players around the area because most lived locally and had jobs either with Waverly Council, the leagues club or the many pubs in the area. The players never took themselves too seriously then either.

Maybe social media and the amount of money they earn these days has changed that. Not that I begrudge them the money - it’s a profession now and the scrutiny they live under would be unbearable for me.

I would've thought the great Easts side from the 30s would be better represented.

I was in the Papuan dressing room after the game Papua played against easts in Port Moresby1969 i think it was he played 5/8 for that game. And was far too good for the easts halves on the night too big too fast.They signed him up in the sheds after the game. True story that's how mark Haris came to the roosters. Mocca Van Hekeran was the Papuan Coach at the time he was an ex easts man so that probably helped but Mark was all over the Easts halves he just ran straight through them
