I’m surprised no one has brought this up yet. On the 4th of August they’re inducting six new players into the roosters hall of fame. It’s a surprisingly select bunch in there currently, Messenger, Dave Brown, Freddy, Jack Gibson, Artie, Coote, Hastings, Stehr and Dunne.

Who do you think the six will be? They have to have been retired for five years so Cordner and Friend are out.

My guess Mini, Ricko, Fitzy, one or two players from the 70’s Fairfax, Junee? And maybe someone from way back like Arthur Halloway.

Would love to see Ron Saddler get a nod. Ferris Ashton and Bunny Reilly. Couldn't argue with Brass and Harris getting a nod too.

            In order ;

            1. Ferris Ashton
            2. Craig Fitzgibbon
            3. Luke Ricketson
            4. Russell Fairfax
            5. Ian Schubert
            6. Mark Harris

Others i considered included Anthony Mini, Bunny Reilly, Kevin Junee, Adrian Morley

Id also consider Barney Dalton- not just because he won 2 consecutive premierships, but as a gangster he went about his business in the streets of Sydney wearing his old Easts jumper-that's commitment!

I'd love to see Ron Sadler get a gong. Best cover defender in the game, bar none, IMO and a really nice person away from it.

The Axe,,Ron Saddler & recent/current times Graig Salvatore & Hugh McGahn as both carried Eastern Subs. during a dire era late 80s-early 90s and JWHs as he's an absolute warrior for us.

Is it too early for Boyd and Jake?

Amazing, you write plenty on here, voluminous posts about random stuff.
But you take one sentence to dismiss an honour going to past greats of the club.

Yep Ron Saddler and Bunny Reilly . McGahan was an absolute champion at the Roosters and gave 110% every game, i would have loved to see him get a premiership while at Easts but apart from 1987 it was mainly a dark period for Easts when he played for them.

Not sure what year it was but i was very young, would have been between 1967-69 at the old Sports Ground, i wasn't really watching much of the football, more intent on playing on the hill but i vividly remember the crowd screaming, i looked up, i think it was a Souths player running down the side line looking set to score and from the other side of the field an Easts player came from nowhere and tackled the guy straight over the sideline like a truck, that player was Ron Saddler.

Yes. Both formally retired in 2021. You have to be retired for 5 years to qualify.

Likewise Aubbo, who finished in 2020.
