For a side who had lost it’s organiser and for a spine who were all 2nd choice options and played very few minutes together I thought our last tackle options were good, I thought our transitions from defence to attack were really good and we seemed to be holding our nerve really well despite only leading by 2.

I disagree, I was surprised how calm and cool they were. It was a significant difference to the panic that set in agains the Dragons a month ago.
He's been good for errors this season.

This is spot on the money. I was over the moon with closing out yesterday based on recent experiences.

Also a JWH/Keary seems the more logical captain option as they seem to be the natural leaders within the team. Refs seem to unfairly brush Teddy a lot of the time which annoys me. Apart from them & Teddy there aren’t many options though.

The inside pass to Gus looked planned, abet last minute. Smith should learn from that. The last quarter they were coming to get us and I think we were pretty calm considering. I am not a fan of the Boyd Cordner line that Egan now runs. Other than dropped balls it doesn't really lead to much. It worked okay back when we had stronger attacking centres (and Boyd Cordner).

Gus could potentially make a great captain.

He's having trouble with his own game let alone worrying about others.

That should change as he overcomes his mental health issues. I like his calmness. He never looks flustered!

He's thrown a couple of erratic passes in the last few weeks that have led to tries to the opposition. He ain't playing with calmness.

                    His demeanour.

The only reason he's not currently playing rep footy is his mental health issues. He will come good imo!

Talking about Leadership, what’s going on at channel 9 . How on earth is it allowed to have Gus commentate on Bulldogs game. A major conflict of interest or is the leadership at channel 9 just plain ignorant and stupid

He is still trying to get everyone in his own head on the same page.

I completely disagree, we managed the last 10minutes very well. There seemed to be a sharpening of the mindset when the margin was closed to 2points with 10 to go.
Our set transitions were better, our field positon management was better, our ability to control their tempo of play through our defensive pressures was better.
I disagree entirely, I think our play in the last 10 was very good and I can barely remember Newcastle having an opportunity.
                            It's a simple concept R6.
When your're leading by 8 that late in the 2nd half you don't play panic football.
The Angus pass that resulting in Newcastle going the length of the field was just one example of the helter skelter Roosters style that was being dished up.
It displayed a distinct lack of leadership.

gus shouldn't have thrown a bad pass but sandon shouldn't have run the ball on the fifth when there was nothing on. i wouldn't put that down to overall leadership, rather game management by the playmaker. it didn't cost and smith will learn from that.

obviously teddy can't be blamed for what happened on the weekend and i think he's a good captain. speaks to the refs better than jake or boyd did

That play and the one when we threw it all over the paddock and Hutch had an opportunity to punt it high and lock them down were both poor plays from our halves when we were hanging onto a lead.
