Hate to say it but it's almost as if less is more. We also shouldn't downplay the fact we were missing Collins, Cheese, Rads, Keary and Lodge against a team that had Ponga and Gagai.

Still not overly impressed by our second half but all I wanted was us to be in the contest!!! The Knights have had some form lately and NEEDED this win (in front of ~25,000 at home). It's a low bar but IMO being good enough to spoil their party by 2 points showed something that's very important... CHARACTER!
Yes certainly less is more most of the time
uou can add to that missing today as well teddy, Walker, Watson and suaali
also res players in baker / momo / toia still injured

    • There was pretty much a try saver from Jake Turpin on Kalyn Ponga that I’m sure won’t make any highlight packs but it’s as good of a covering tackle as I’ve seen in a long time. Very Jake Friend-esque.

            • Thought May looked off the pace today. Reckon Whyte way ahead of him

              • Just watched the presser and I’m convinced Jaz should have been our captain since Boyd and friend retired.
Geez he speaks well and you can tell he loves the roosters.
Nothing against Teddy but Jaz is the heart and soul of this club.

Was a real text book grass cutting tackle

                  • I just got done watching the replay, as I couldn't watch live, and thought I'd just jot down a few thoughts.

Toops: Absolute monster performance. Not just the metres but the quality of his runs. I also feel as though he was covering defensive space for two at times.
Manu: Best game by Joey this year. We're blessed he has stayed at our club when he could be a starting fullback at a plethora of clubs.
Whyte: Someone said he has a bit of Taukeiaho about him, and they weren't wrong. Huge performance from him, and looks to have some mongrel.
Smith: Nice steady, clean performance. Kicked well, ran well. Should only get better.
Brown: I really like his unpredictability. Sometimes he's just off the back fence, sometimes he has a little short pass, sometimes he passes somewhat long. When watching our shifts this year, you've been always able to tell what was going to happen next. I don't have that feeling when Brown touches the ball. His pass selection is very good.
Angus: Extremely important effort from him. Ran really hard, and was his best game in a while too.
                    Nat: Stellar

Could make mention of plenty of other players, and even those who didn't play well had good moments. The defence of our centres is a big concern, but they also made some very important tackles and were defending against bloody good players so I can't be too critical.

And for the love of God, we need to fix up not just our errors, but were we make them. 20 metres out from our own line, tackle 1, error. Week after week.
If we put a pass down while putting on a play at the opposing end of the field, that's one thing. It's an entirely different thing to put the ball down tackle 1 near your own line. Absolute coach killers that really, really need to be fixed.

Overall, a really gutsy win. We were unlucky not to lead more at the break, and then after losing Keary the Knights really came to get us - and they can attack. A really strong effort to hold on with half our side out.

Fark Ponga's ugly BTW. The weird tats don't help either...
