  • Can we still make the top 8?

I think so. Part of me hasn't given up on this season.

Yes, purely because the comp is so congested and very few teams have broken away from the pack.

Will we? Not so sure... would need a huge form turnaround.

Sports bet are offering $2.30 for $1 for anyone who thinks that we can make the 8.,
Last week it was $1.80 for $1.
I think we would need a massive turnaround to make it from here.
Walker back, Radley and Cheese back, Hutch gone, no injuries and no suspensions.
Suaalii back on the wing, manu at centre, Keary at 5/8
      Cheese off the bench.
It's still possible, but highly unlikely.

No I think were done for this year we might go on a bit of a run if the coach starts to pick players in their preferred spots and gets rid of a couple of Duds that he seems to pick every week.

          Technically? Absolutely.

practically? Probably not given our terrible F/A and the number of teams above us with a bye in hand.

ultimately? It doesn’t matter at all. If we managed to scrape into the 8 we’d simply be week 1 cannon fodder

Take the odds champ. We are a shoe in!

This season is far from over.

No, I don’t think we can.

I think the cut off for this year will be 32 points but given our dire for and against it would mean 34 points for us.

That would mean winning 8 out of our last 10 games. That would mean winning one of our games against Storm, Broncos or Souffs and then not losing another game.

Sad to say, but the season is done.

Hi R6, were we in a similar position last season before we went on our run?

                      No we are worse off.

After 13 games played last year we were 7 wins, 6 losses with a +47 point differential.
After 13 games this year we are 6 wins, 7 losses with a - 90 point differential. Our point differential is pretty much as good as another loss at the moment.

Admittedly we lost our 14, 15th & 16th game last year so you could make an argument that after 17 games played we could find ourselves in a similar position to last year but we would need to win 2 out of our next 3 games.

We are undoubtedly worse off though as it’s a tougher ask from here on out than it was last season.

yep it’s the for and against that’s really killing us this season.

Which honestly I can’t remember the last time we had that problem. Normally in seasons where our differential is bad we are also way down the bottom of the ladder anyway so it makes no difference e.g. 2016, 2012, 2009. Being technically in touch with the 8 but having to overcome a terrible f/a is new territory

Obviously its still possible to make the 8....

Unless there is a complete change in attitude and coaching direction then no we won't

I'd probably even rather a year without finals then making it like last year by playing brutal for 10 games only to get knocked out first week

If we win the required number of games the points for and against deficit will have sorted itself out.
