Was thinking about this the other day. He was our X factor in 18 and 19. In both GFs he was outstanding. That flick pass in 19 to Tupou was the difference. And I remember many close games where he got us home, ie Storm drop kick.

Exactly and so has he without us.

I would argue the loss of Cronk has left a more difficult hole to fill. We've had an absolute gun Centre in Manu, who has solo-won us plenty of games. We haven't had a composed head like Cronk, though.

I think people also forget that we lost Cordner and Friend prematurely in this time period. I think all three of those losses have weighed more heavily on our squad than the loss of Mitchell, as good as he is.

We need to fill the leadership void before we can think of another premiership … who that is, I don’t know!

I suppose if there's any good news about Flanagan returning to a club, it's that we won't have to listen to him commentate.
1985: 1 try vs Parramatta, 1 try vs Manly, 1 try vs Wests, 2 tries vs Souffs
1986: 2 tries vs Illawarra, 1 try vs Balmain, 2 tries vs Norths.

This is a bigger issue then losing Latrell. In the space of 12 months we lost both Morris', Cordner, Jake Friend and Aubbo. We really lost that hard nosed, professional attitude that all good teams have and we haven't really replaced it. We were hoping Crichton would take over the Cordner role and he hasn't really owned it at all. Now we are left with an ageing JWH and Teddy who looks like he needs a break from footy after a tough couple of years where he has thrown the team on his back pretty much. People keep saying we have a great roster but there's some serious holes in our squad which are becoming more evident every time we play

The Mole has no links in the club anymore, he's not liked. I would take it all with a pinch of salt. A 10yr old could've written that article in all seriousness.

Yeah there’s zero substance to this article. 90 percent of the players mentioned are fringe players who wouldn’t be on much anyway. And I refuse to believe there are just going to give up on Walker

I've said this before, and it is pure speculation but I believe Robbo is keeping Walker in some kind of career bubble wrap (temporarily) as to keep him fresh for a long Roosters journey.

I'll just say I think there are "elements" surrounding the first grade squad atm that soon enough will be sorted out and pave walkers return.

I'm probably way of the mark lol but am very keen to see Sam back in first grade.

It’s amazing how the Mole’s dumb, poorly researched ‘scoop’ that he probably conceived and wrote in ten minutes has led to an article on Fox Sports, Zero Tackle and news.com.au . I guess that is the state of modern journalism

I am hoping you are right, but it could just as easily be Robbo making another call that we can't win a premiership with this side including Walker. He did it with Maloney (2015) and Pearce (2017).

But as others have mentioned, until leadership problems are solved we are not going to win a premiership anyway. Shaking my head at us signing yet another easily baited hothead in Leniu. I bet that petulant sinbinning cost him an origin spot.

Youth is on Walkers side compared to the other two who you've rightfully mentioned.

Sam would already have been shopped and delivered if Robbo didn't have premiership belief in him. Imo.

I wouldn't worry about Leniu, I thought he did overcook it myself but a bit of mongrel is necessary to invoke fear in the opposition.

And that's playing the game hard, not squirting water at people.
