Can't agree there. In my opinion David Gallop is the best administrator this game has ever had.

Very nice gentleman when you meet him. I saw him near my shop once when he was hailing a cab and it happened to be the night after I'd been to a Roosters Chic function. He was very interested in how the evening had gone and how the ladies all got together to celebrate the Roosters. I can't believe we are the same age. He has lots of grey hair and is very thin..occupational hazard I guess. Eat a sandwich occasionally David!

I've always been 50/50 about Gullop mate.

I've always viewed him as the News mouthpiece. Ruprects messenger. But I don't really know how much input he actually has into decisions. I know as a frontman he does a good job, not scared to face the music, I respect that in him.

What I don't like is NewsRLs insistence that Gullop is the chairman on the bored for 4yrs or whatever it is. I mean WTF gives them the right to secure a position for their ex-lawyer??? And why would they need him in the job IF they have exited like they say they have???

As usual with these arsemonkeys every thing they touch is stained IMO. I'm sick of asking these same questions, been doing this shit for 15yrs now, and answers still dodge me.

Always an agenda, I just wish I could stop looking.

            You know it makes sense.

One thing I find fundamentally unfair about both systems is that the minor premiers can win the first week and then have to play sudden-death to make the grand final. Last year the Storm win one finals game, then lose one, yet suffer the same fate as the Dragons and their 2009 double choke.

Admittedly there probably isn't an easy solution so long as we are stuck with a large, even number of teams as finalists.

But the McIntyre system could sure throw up some travesties: none worse than what happened to Smithy's Eels in 2005. They win the minor premiership and Wests finish 4th. Then in week one of the finals the Eels thrash Manly, and Wests are on the end of a 50 point trouncing by the Cowboys. Wests get another chance and go on to win the premiership, while the Eels get knocked out with a single loss to the Cows.

EDIT: As Fitzy pointed out in a subsequent post, I stuffed the facts up, but the point remains. Cows were actually trounced by Wests, but the Eels still had to play them in sudden death for a grand final berth.

When I was 21 I was still following Parra and dating a riff fan. Oh dear...Needless to say my tastes have refined over the years.

Mate, Wests smashed the Cowboys by 50 and that's one if the reasons why the McIntyre systems is shit. They finished out of the top 4 got belted by 50 but a week later it counts for nothing.

Both are Fairfax sites but it just depends on what state you live in!

Yeah, sorry I completely stuffed up what I wrote. But as you point out, the facts were an even a starker indication of the injustice of the sysem. Eels were minor premiers and had a huge win in first week of finals, Cows finished 5th and got smashed in the same week, then the Eels were forced to play them in a sudden-death game.

Yep your point is right. This system is just much better you have teams who know what they are playing for. Also the good thing with this system is that the order of the games can be changed.

                          Excellent.

Golden point next please ARLC, it's another dud.

I don't mind it too much during the season but to decide a Final or Grand Final by Golden point is stupid.

                              McIntyre System scrapped

Apparently the new commission has scrapped the McIntyre system, and will be going with the AFL style top 8 for the semis starting in 2012.
