The merge was shit. Really bad, I mean they never competed for the entire first half. Souffs should have put 30 on them. It'll be a long season for merge fans, they have a "Braith Anasta" in Ben Creagh, Soward and Fein as halves, lmao. Merge to compete for the spoon.

    Chook.

Add a nuffie coach in Price who looks like he's expecting Doust to stab him in the back at any time and there is a perfect mix for failure. How ineffective is their attack!

Oh and congrats to Cooper for lasting close to a half of footy before being injured again. The Tampon Mk II. Should have been put out to pasture with Hornby and Young.

Heard on Radio his thumb is fine, will be playing round 1. I think Keary is their best halve anyway, there a massive raps on this kid. Big George Burgess impressed me last night, his charges took three defenders each time and his play the balls were very quick, a very big kid.

Merge were terrible last night. Souths were a far better team, hard to get an idea on the performance but as others have said Souths have a strong team on paper. They'll be hard to beat every week.

However, Adam Reynolds was also rubbish. This is the guy people think could replace Pearce at origin? Haha!

This is their Achilles heel, they are very good, but their concentration/intensity wanes for periods especially in the second half, I missed the first half & when I tuned in Merge put 2 tries on them to take it to 16 - 10 & looked to have all the go forward, that only lasted for about 15 mins, then Souffs came back at them & finished strongly. It may just be because they're lacking some match fitness early in the year, but they did similar for most games last season.

The way the game is played today every team has flat spots, the momentum swings and turns with possession and luck, when Souths had the ball they dominated and they scored points then St merge got a share of possession and they to dominated for a period albeit a small period. The better sides can strike back when they need too, this is what we must do, especially in the early rounds, not everything is going to go your way during the game so a team needs to be able to bounce back and that is what Maguire is teaching his team.

the bunnies were very lazy in defense just behind the ruck after the first 20 minutes, they had players turning their backs and also not moving up in a straight line, Seluini could be deadly darting out of dummy half late in both halves.

we have a real problem on our right hand side defense with Maubs/Maloney/SKD this is where Inglis attacks, you can bet that the vermin will be throwing numbers at Maloney/SKD all night, if Robbo doesn't have this sorted we could leak points here.

all that being said the Bunnies were not that good last night and will notice a major step up against us in round 1.

I thought Souths looked the better side over the full 80 minutes but at times let the Dragons into the match.

For me even though it pains me to say it but I rate Souths as the team to beat this year they have so much depth & are a well coached side that IMO will go better this year than last. In rd 1 I just want to see the Roosters put in a solid team effort & not be blown off the park.

The Roosters on paper also have a very good squad but it is the 1st year together with this new squad & coaching team so realistically Souths have the jump on us. The 2 games I enjoyed the most last year were the 2 Roosters v Souths games they were classical. I can only hope the Rd 1 game is as close & exciting as those games.

Souths looked very strong. They also looked very structured and organized with their strong forward roll and then second man plays out the back to a very fit and dangerous looking GI. I just hope the Roosters have their own structured attacking plays......it's been a few years between set plays.
