Souths first team was very solid, their second man plays with GI is virtually unstoppable. Teo was a smashing machine tonight, they will be very hard to beat. But having said that, they weren't really tested in first half, St merge gave away too many penalties and dropped much ball. Maguire is a very good coach and has them disciplined.

Indeed they were but i reckon they're vulnerable in defence close to the line particularly their small half.
I'm confident coaches Robbo & Taylor (especially) will go over their performance & develop a strong game plan.

Souffs were impressive. I hate to say it but Luke is by far the best running hooker in the game, and Inglis is freakish. Burgess junior has one big head on him but will be a massive player in the future.
Round 1 is going to be one hell of a game!

We already know Souffs are a good side from last year, they haven't lost any key players that should affect this.

Not going to read much into a trial. Their side looks like it will be full strength come round 1 bar Matt King so we'll be in for a very tough test.

They're already 1 year in to wear Mcguire wants to take them so I think they'll have the jump on us unfortunately. Still we have a great record in the Round 1 encounter.

Saints are in for a long hard season, they were terrible lastnight, they tried hard, but just dont have the cattle, to be any sort of realistic threat to the top sides. Souths danger men are Ingliss and Teo, those two need to be contained, and if that can happen, you go a long way to beating them. I just hope this crazy wet weather clears up before march 7, Iám going to the game, and a fast dry track, would be the icing on the cake.

Hate them all you want, but you better respect them when you play them. Souths are legitimate. They are a huge side and any team that has Inglis at fullback can beat anybody. Can they win the comp? I don't think they can , but if their halves have a strong year then who knows. I just love watching Inglis play.

I cant wait for Rd1. This is a huge test for us and I have no doubt our boys will be fired up big time, unlike last year when we got physically smashed by them for 75 mins only to fluke a win. I was dancing around the living room like the rest of you but lets be honest, they bashed us for most of the game. I can't see the same happening in a couple of weeks. I think Robbo is the type of guy to get his teams up mentally.

That is a very good point and could prove a difference (except for your grammar R6 - wear- ) Robbo does seem like a guy that can get his teams up though and thats what Smith could not do. I think we can beat them. But to do so we have to play very well. Inglis is a beast.

I think we can beat them, they are still playing in patches and go missing for large periods of the game and getting tired as per last yr.

Adam Reynolds broke his thumb last night, out for a month. Keary would be expected to come in, must pressure the noob.

They looked good and were well disciplined last night. If they take that form into the match then we will have to play very well to beat them

Yes they looked good ill give them that but fark they didn't beat much.
On the merge, Trent Merrin looks better and better every year. He has great footwork for a big man, very agile.
