Hope you're warm this winter. Also remember you can get those interest free loans on new units. We have a 60's house but insulated it and installed modern aircon units... IMO Canberra winters don't have to be cold.
The service guy said it’s very common apparently. One of his most common call outs are for fried circuit boards caused by lizards, geckos, mice, moths etc getting in the heater unit. We still had the power to the heater switched on outside even though it was summer and were obviously not using the heater, but we used the indoor control thermostat panel to display the house temperature. One day the electricity circuit tripped and we had a blackout to part of the house. Hubby went out to the fuse box to flick the switch back on. I then noticed later that day that the heater thermostat panel was dead, nothing on the screen. We checked the heater outside and there was a tiny dead lizard in there right next to the circuit board! We won’t be leaving the power switched on during the off season again. I guess we were lucky it was summer.

I do intent to upgrade in the future as our evaporative air con is very old, but we had already committed money to a few other projects before this happened.

    • Beautiful autumnal day in Sydney, the breeze was a little cool but lovely in the sun, not to hot, poolside at the stadium was a delight and not crowded.

        • Regarding the bad storms earlier this year, I finally bit the bullet and rang the insurance company.
The bloke they sent out to inspect reckons my entire roof needs to be replaced, he wasn't that surprised when I showed him pictures of the hail stones and he took copies.

                      Well that’s good news.

It’s been raining here most of the day but nothing like what Sydney and the coast is getting at the moment.

                          • Compared to yesterday afternoon, today wasn't to bad, yesterday was arctic when the wind and rain set in. The coolness last night made it so much easier to sleep.
Suppose to warm up again later in the week here in Sydney.

                            • Sunday's weather for the Canberra Marathon was pretty sweet. There was a light drizzle but it was pretty cool so I had no dramas.
