The road up to the top of Mt Canobolas was closed when we were there as they were working on some of the communication tours so will go up to the summit for a look this time.
If we do go to Mudgee before hand or on the way back i want to call into Peter Van Gent wines as they do a lovely red called Sundance red that you chill, great BBQ wine or pizza and pasta.

Heading to the southern highlands for the school holidays. Maybe I'll catch-up with old mate for a spliff and a talk about politics?
Not personally into the dakka but felt I might as well put it out there. Can imagine his grand acreage is quite the place to visit, with lotsa bushland and free thinking.Last edited by ism22; 04-09-2025, 06:48 PM.

Booked a night at Cuppitts winery down the south coast for better half's special birthday, will probably add on to it but have told friends who live in Ulladulla will be staying there a couple of nights also.
Russell Morris is doing a farewell tour and his Sydney concert at the Opera House clashes with the date we are away in Orange so looking at maybe going to Newcastle to see him, that would be a couple of days up the coast if we do.

So looking forward to the Melbourne trip coming up, 5 nights away, will be interesting packing cool and warm clothes as the days are looking mild to warm and nights cold. Staying in a lovely B&B in Carlton one block away from the beautiful Carlton Gardens and also a block away the other way from Lygon St.
Looking forward to visiting both Queen Victoria Markets and South Melbourne Markets, always seem to pick up something clothes wise or something for the house and being a creature of habit i am really looking forward to a bratwurst from the food hall in Queen Vic, bratwurst with onions, sauerkraut, cheese, tomato sauce and mustard ( i just drooled over the keyboard thinking about it ), have been to known to down a dozen oysters before that also. The Dim Sims at South Melbourne Markets are another favourite.
Going to the Swans vs Essendon match at Marvel Stadium on the Saturday and also looking forward to a Sunday afternoon session at one of the pubs with good music, beer and wines Going to check out the Australian Music Vault exhibition at the Arts Centre. Also a visit and walk around St Kilda is always on the cards and hopefully Chinatown for yum cha and walks around Fitzroy Gardens. Lygon st is a bit of a tourist trap but do have a favourite restaurant there called Tiamo which dishes up beautiful, traditional and comforting old style Italian food.Last edited by horrie hastings; 05-06-2025, 07:33 PM.

Just trying to figure out what to pack clothing wise, plenty of warm stuff in the suitcase at the moment, will do last minute decision making or culling in the morning.Last edited by horrie hastings; 05-07-2025, 09:18 PM.

Last time we were there which i think was in 2017 we also drove 2 hrs north of Perth to see The Pinnacles, quite amazing driving around them close to sunset, it actually felt as spiritual as Ularu and Kata Tjuta.
Perth itself is so so but does have the lovely Kings Park and it is only a quick train trip to Fremantle which is a great sea side town with lots of history and great sea food.
Also there is a day trip across to Rottnest Island, home of the Quokkas but speaking to friends who had been there lately they said it had become a bit of a tourist trap rip off,Last edited by horrie hastings; 05-07-2025, 11:00 PM.
