        • Sausage ragout with feta and going to serve it with risoni, perfect dish for the freezing miserable weather.

Had a beautiful roast yesterday at the Toxteth pub in Glebe. Roast beef, roast potato, pumpkin, beautiful carrots, brussel sprouts which were yum, peas, beans and a Yorkshire pudding and a nice gravy, perfect in front of the fire and a couple of glasses of an Argentinian Malbec.

                  KPI was 10/10.

May god bless Russia for inventing such a fabulous dish!

Toxteth was my local for nearly two decades. Changed hands quite a few times. Pretty sure Ricky Stuart part owned it at some stage. Food was always good there.

                        • Haydens pies have really dropped the ball this visit, got two pies yesterday, a Stroganoff one and also the Roast chicken, bacon, spring onion and cheese., the Stroganoff one was ok and waa chock full of meat and mushrooms but it was not very hot at all, still nice but the chicken one was only luke warm so the inside white sauce filling was claggy and not enjoyable at all, better halfs was the same, hopefully this was only a once off but i didnt enjoy the visit yesterday much at all.

This can be one of the problems when eateries become so popular and they need to produce large amount of their product. I've heard that Hayden's will sell more 1000 pies on most Saturdays and that figure doubles during holiday periods and long weekends.

The biggest issue for small businesses on the south coast is finding good reliable staff. The talent pool is quite small and most people want part time work so they can enjoy the south coast lifestyle.

With that said, I had a Cheese and Bacon Pie during the week and it was awesome!

Yeah it was pretty busy yesterday and all the pie displays were full, maybe had to many in there and they didnt warm as quickly. The Chicken one is my favourite and thats why i was disappointed with it yesterday.
Had a nice feed of Gurnard, Morwong and chips from Burrill Lake fish shop today, fish was perfectly cooked, still full from it.
