I will ask Batemans to write a poem on Thai food and perhaps Mickie can answer any questions regarding ping pong.
Can get a few good ones around Soi Cowboy. Easy to find Mickie there also.

The Maltese Cafe in Newtown do a rabbit dish once a month, usually on the last Sunday on the month but i usually have something on so end up missing it. Alchemy at Surry Hills a Polish restaurant has it on the menu and i have had it there before, it was ok but didn't have the gamey wild taste that i like with it so after a more rustic style like i had in Melbourne and i reckon the Maltese Cafe would do it like that, just have to be free on one of the Sundays. Just wish it was more freely available at more restaurants here.

Going to Taree for a 90th birthday but if the weather is going to really bad i will have no hesitation in not going,

Was watching Stanley Tucci's Italy last year and rabbit appeared on the show a couple of times and was looking forward to having at least one dish of rabbit somewhere in Italy while i would have been there but due to a couple of factors last year trip had to be cancelled.
You used to see rabbit in a lot of butcher shops back in the 70 s and 80 s and i even remember seeing rabbit pieces for sale in the David Jones food hall in the city. It seems more a speciality product these days but i suppose it comes down to now that 99% of rabbit would be a farmed product as wild rabbit cannot be sold because of the viruses injected into the populations to try and eradicate them, the taste of the wild rabbit is far superior compared to the farmed product. It was a bit like duck, the first time i had duck was a wild one that some friends of relatives up the coast had shot. my aunty baked it and it was beautiful, even though i have many great duck dishes and meals since i have never forgotten how good the taste of the first duck was.

Another bird you don't see often is goose, have had once when i was about 5 years old and once again at the Alchemy restaurant in Surry Hills about 7-8 years ago, it was ok but would like to try properly roasted , maybe like Maggie Beer used to do.

I remember watching a cooking show many years ago and Dorinda Hafner was cooking pigeons and they looked like very very small roast chickens cooking. so i am still keen to try pigeon one day.

I can't get past all that pigeon poo in the school playground.
My uncle loved them! Back in the 70's, he would shoot them with an air pellet rifle out of his laundry window. Could you imagine doing that in Bondi nowadays.

The time i had goose when i was about 5 we had a boarder in one of the flatettes at out place in Paddington and he bought a goose that used to run around the backyard, i was actually scared of it at the time as it used to squawk and hiss. Then one day i remember seeing quite a few loose feathers and this carcass hanging in the laundry and not much later time wise the bird was in the oven and on the table, my mother told me she hated cooking it but at least she didn't have to kill it, pluck it or hang it, she only had to cook it.
