I take your point as a valid one Cockadoodledoo, but may you be kind enough to inform me as to why FOXsports do not have the Premier league (NSW cup) aired rather than Toyota cup.Originally posted by Cockadoodledoo View PostToyota Cup is shit.. Newtown is definitely better.. Have a watch of our tinpot U20's team.. They are garbage.. Their coach is a spastic and none of them can tackle.
I would think if it was better viewing, they would change these competitions around to suit the coverage of games ?

They do cover it. They show one game each week.Originally posted by Hugh Jorgan View PostI take your point as a valid one Cockadoodledoo, but may you be kind enough to inform me as to why FOXsports do not have the Premier league (NSW cup) aired rather than Toyota cup.

The toyota cup concept is a winner. The only thing they need to do is change it to under 23s.
It's very hard to judge a player at that age. Sure, you get freaks here and there but the majority will have their confidence dented and we will never hear from them again, despite obvious talent eg. Tuigamala

Well given that Toyota Cup is played at the same ground as the NRL matches it is cheaper from a cost persective to set up the cameras etc.. Additionally from a marketing view point. It is alot easier to get interest from the viewing public when showing a Toyota Cup match between the Bulldogs and the Eels as compared to Sydney Bulls v Wentworthville.Originally posted by Hugh Jorgan View PostI take your point as a valid one Cockadoodledoo, but may you be kind enough to inform me as to why FOXsports do not have the Premier league (NSW cup) aired rather than Toyota cup.

Has to be under 23's, players aren't physically developed always at 20 and you get late bloomers. I think it can be a bit disheartening playing out at NSW Cup venues wearing a different clubs colours in front of a few hundred people. I hope the bit about Tuigamala is a joke.Originally posted by BigMike View PostThe toyota cup concept is a winner. The only thing they need to do is change it to under 23s.

Totally agree with the lifting of the age limit to 23. The step up to FG is too big for most U20s players and sometimes their bodies are not up to the rigours.Originally posted by BigMike View PostThe toyota cup concept is a winner. The only thing they need to do is change it to under 23s.

There shouldnt be an age limit. Toyota cup should be a full blooded reserve grade division. If you aren't playing 1st grade, you should be playing 2nd grade. If you're not playing second grade, you should be playing NSW/QLD cup etc etcOriginally posted by BigMike View PostThe toyota cup concept is a winner. I think Tuigamala was a perfect example of a player not mentally ready for first grade. He has had high expectations his whole career and is in Brian Smith's good books, there must be something right about he bloke. Plus the bloke is apparently quick as.Originally posted by Cockadoodledoo View PostHas to be under 23's, players aren't physically developed always at 20 and you get late bloomers. I wouldn't look too much into his debut games.

The age limit needs to be lifted to Under 23's. The Toyota Cup is a great competition but I don't think it mentally prepares the young kids for NRL football. The mentality seems to be attacking football where if the opposition score 40 points, we'll score 42 to win the game. I think with the age moving up to 23, it will help prepare the players mentally before moving into the NRL ranks.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ - that's why. Simple logistics. U20s is like watching Arrive Alive - but faster. Actually, Arrive Alive defence might be better.Originally posted by Hugh Jorgan View PostOpposed to 8 Toyota cup games. You'd barely call 1 game a week "coverage".
Lack of defence in the U20s is not just a problem for our club.
