Interesting how differently coaches man manage.Originally posted by dice View Post
The difference is Walker lost us that game with recklessness. The blatant strip when we were down a man and Sharks still had their challenge. The intercept pass on our halfway line when we were not in a scoring position. These are different to players dropping a slippery ball.
Walker needs to grow up and start managing the game. Field position and possession. Higher risk plays need to be calculated. Some people were upset with Walker for throwing the ball over the sideline on 2nd tackle in that same game. I doubt Robbo would have been upset with that incident because the try was on. It was a calculated risk.
Demetriou pulled rookie half Ilias from the field last year for "recklessness" and carelessness but played him the following week.
That clip over the back of the head or humiliation worked a gem didn't it?
Trent's stubbornness is working against him.
Difference between 2013, 2018 & 2019 is he had many experienced players and leaders. They've since retired and now he's got relatively inexperienced players especially forwards.

Ofcourse there is something else.Originally posted by Kelby View PostI think something else is brewing behind the scenes and club has, up to now, covered it up.
Radley is off the rails.
Smith isn't fit to play hooker. Yet on big money.
Handbrake creates confusion.
Suaali is overpaid and underproducing.
How do you think players on half the money he gets are feeling?
Making Walker a scapegoat was stupid.
Moving players around out of position was stupid.
Is that enough?
Trent looks fat, bloated, more like a clerk than a coach.
He has let the standard slip, I don't think the players trust him anymore.

I thought the second half of last night was massive for us, the coach, and our season. We needed to win that game and saw glimpses of urgency from Teddy and Keary doing what they used to do more regularly in the past. With our draw, we've still got the Panthers, Storm, Broncos and Souths to face plus others which won't be easy considering our form. Making the 8 is gonna be a task in itself unfortunately.Originally posted by dice View PostIt was where it started but to be fair Walker cost us the game vs Sharks with silly play and needed some time-out.
We'll be right once Manu, Walker, and Tupou are all back in the side but geez that game in two weeks' time vs Bulldogs is massive for us.

Recklessness……Victor Radley is reckless in almost every game we play and costs us big time. Penalties, sin bins, suspensions, head injuries. He’s the most reckless carnt in the NRL so how come he’s still getting picked each week? Walker may have had a reckless moment or two in that game, but to get dropped for trying to spark our shithouse attack is a bit stiff when bonehead Radley continues to stink up the place week in week out with his behaviour. Double standards from the coach. Walker needed support, not banishment.Originally posted by dice View Post

My frustration lies with his lack of hesitation chopping and changing some players and their positions but then leaving others to continually fail..
No wonder there is no cohesion, he is either playing them out of position or switching them from left-side to right-side and vice versa..
It will be very interesting to see what happens after the bye. Surely Manu goes back to centre. Suualli played in his spot last night so he will have to be moved either back to left centre or FINALLY back to the wing.
Billy had a shocker last night but was our best the previous two weeks so I think he holds his left centre spot. Paulo not competing for the ball on the last play, which ultimately cost us last night has left a very sour taste in my mouth so I’d drop him.
Toops should also be back for Allen thank the lord.
In saying all this, even with our best team on the paddock and in their right positions I’m not confident. Everyone is so out of form which in my view is a coaching thing. Never have I seen a team so good on paper perform so soooooo bad. Our game plan is terrible. Need to go back to basics, play through the middle, run in numbers. Turning it inside worked well, I hate it when we try and play around teams or sideways. It just doesn’t work.
Sorry about the vent, this is just my thoughts and I had to offload it so it didn’t ruin my whole weekend.

Robbo thought Manu at 5/8 and Keary at 7 would be better. I thought the same tbh. Robbo thought wrong. So did I.Originally posted by nayfo View Post
Robbo has a lot to answer for dropping Walker. It was the start of our slide. Sure we weren’t playing great but Walker wasn’t our problem. Not to mention we were well entrenched in the 8.
For those saying he needed to go to reserve grade to work on his game what a load of shite. It’s not the 80’s and 90’s anymore, the game has changed and reserve grade ain’t what it used to be.
Playing in reserve grade isn’t going to help your combinations with Teddy, Kez and the rest of the team. It just puts the team in jeopardy and loses cohesion.
Dumb decision.

While I agree with some of what you are saying, we were playing without effort, were constantly out of position and were making way too many errors from day one against the Dolphins. Walker being dropped hasn't changed that - for good or for bad.Originally posted by nayfo View Post

It’s not so much dropping Walker that has me concerned but why he dropped him. Robbo claims it was to learn yet Radley and Suualii are playing terrible yet Robbo doesn’t demote them as well. That’s having a double standard.Originally posted by nayfo View Post

Agree unfortunately.Originally posted by Kelby View PostI think something else is brewing behind the scenes and club has, up to now, covered it up.
My gut feeling is Sam has upted and over the coaches tactics and style of play and he's paying the price.
Dropping players isn't Trent's go.

The thing no one has mentioned about Walker is his influence on the team. Yes he’s only one player but he gets the team focused into attack mode and concentration is essential in scoring tries. Walker just has that aura about him that gets points and although Keary can be good he tends to wait for a chance whereas Walker creates them. And we need more than at any time a creative player not just players who predictably go through the motions. Walker has great talent untapped and going to great waste in lower grades. What Robbo has against him I do not know but Rads and Suualii have been making a complete mess of things but he just won’t demote them. Radley is now a senior player who quite frankly banishes himself. It would be a good opportunity for Brown or Cheese to show their worth as a lock. Robbo must be close to pulling the trigger on Radley despite him being a senior player.Originally posted by Steggles View Post

As others have pointed out Manu and Trell both had extended stints out of the team. Manu was left out of the team for remainder of 2017 despite us being down on outside backs. I recall Maubs and Matterson ended up being our centres for the final vs Cowboys. I don't think it is double standards. Try to beat bad habits out of them whilst they are still learning.
