  • Great defence

Great effort by the team today but what was impressive was the defence. If they showed that commitment every week we wouldn't lose to rabble like Redcliffe.

Spot on Ray. We will go a long way in this comp if we defend like that every week. At some point our attack will click into gear as well, then watch out.

I’d have to watch again and check stats but our edges didn’t get as tested cause ball movement was limited. Our forwards have been good most of the year and weather kept the game simple. I worry about space on a dry fast pitch and what reads our backs have to make… devils advocate I thought even our backs dug in and showed good character I just need more convincing - especially with all the changes

Geez I’ve gone wet blanket, apologies

Definately the glass half empty outlook but none the less it’s well reasoned

Much improved effort. No doubt the weather had a lot to do with it though and doubt our problems were fixed in 5 days. 100% much improved attitude though. In regards to the weather, even the Tigers kept Penrith to one try, it can be misleading

You are right Ray. If we keep our opposition to zero. We will go a long way towards winning.

Butcher bros made 100 tackles between them and no misses.

Been awhile since we kept a team to nil ...................pretty hard to do with the modern "rules".

Our defence was 2013-esque and we all know who the comp that year.

                    Go Easts.

Just had a look thru the game stats v worriers. They won most stats. We only had 41% posession

                            My only worries are...

                            - This was without their fullback and enforcer (though we were also without a key yardage back and our enforcer)

                            - Johnson's kicking was garbage (though apparently he made 691 kick metres) and I'm still not convinced Dylan Walker was actually on the field (stats say he missed 2 tackles, ran ~100m and kicked the ball 3 times for 60m). Oh and Ford dropped 2 tries! I've seen better attacking performances and just one lucky Warriors try coulda flipped the momentum I felt.

That said it was bucketing down with NZ rain and the stats don't lie about possession (or Johnson's ridiculous kick metres). 14-0 is an EXCELLENT result that I'm definitely enjoying.

Sceptic in me think it's only because our edges weren't tested because of the weather. Our middles haven't been the issue. We'll find out next week.
