Yeah and England with Super League. Both are definitely institutions. Also... IMO pacific island nations are only gonna get better at footy as they continue to develop and have more exposure to sports diets / training.

During my limited time spent in Fiji and Samoa... I reckon playing beach/park footy with the boys every evening followed by some coconut juice, cassava, veggies and fresh fish/chicken would be better prep for the NRL than any of the private schools that I attended on scholarship (including ones with coaches who played for Australia and/or coached professionally).

That said, all you need is Murdoch to kick the bucket and/or Fox to go south and the landscape could change (that or if we saw a ban on gambling + alcohol sponsorship of sports... none of these things would be bad BTW!!!) I still think there'd be money no matter what as it's part of our culture.

Either Teddy or Manu will have to go to 5/8 and actually be successful at 5/8 or we dont stand much of a chance of keeping JS.

We saw with Latrell as an example than 800k is the absolute apex we would pay for a 3/4.

There is no way we can keep 2 top shelf No.1's in the 3/4 line for very long.

Someone else will before long throw 1Mill + for either JS (most likely) or Manu to play fullback.

Hanging on just at the moment with Tonga and Samoa being competitive but how long will that last once these current crop of players hang their boots up.

It will also be interesting to see what happens to Tonga/Samoa/Cook Islands and Fiji for instance in the generations to come though - currently able to field teams under the parents/grandparents rules.

They will more than likely have to change that to Great Grandparents /Great Great Grandparents for Tonga/Samoa/Cook Islands/Fiji to field competitive sides in the RLWC into the future

The Population of these Countries Tonga 108k / Samoa 210k / Cook Islands 17k / Fiji 912k does not indicate that the game would be able to go through any real growth in those countries and the ship has well and truly sailed on the US.

Rugby is the number 1 Football code in those countries as it is in New Zealand and is Second to Football in the UK. The Only Country where Rugby League is the National Sport is PNG - 9.3 Mill - can you see them ever winning a RLWC?
            Trolling again.

This is a Rugby League site you dribbler.

Agree with a couple of posts - if we stay relatively fit next year, there are no excuses if we don't win it.

I've got no doubt by the end of his career he'll be held in the same esteem, as long as he gets lucky with injury and/or doesn't go off and waste his time in Rugby.

The personnel crunch that is coming down the line soon: having to deal with the Teddy-Manu-Suallii situation...is going to be a massive headache for us. Someone is going to throw money at him we can't match unless we make space.

Suallili has a contract in his favour. So we will have him next year and as he has a strong desire atm to play for the wallabies, my guess that will remain his current thinking. Hopefully post that, afterTeddy 2027 will have retired and then he will come back to us as a 24/25 year old full back!

Like any good investment - let it go at the top before the downhill slide starts.

We'd be doing him a favour and save him from all the crap he'd cop here when his form starts to dwindle.
Teddy will be 32 at the start of the 2025 season so possibly only another 2 years after that before he calls it a day.
So if we need to make the decision, do we keep someone who we may only get 2 more years from or 2 others who will give us another 5 and 12 respectively?

Anyway it's all hypothesising at the moment. Too many variables in the equation and if the salary cap continues to increase after the next TV rights deal, we may get to keep all three!

So according to your idea there would never be a one club player. Let them all go when they are at 32 before they start to go downhill.
You know Cronk played 4 Grand Finals and won 3 after he turned 32 in 2015.
Great for club loyalty and inspiring players to join our club and take unders to stay with us. NOT.
