  • Sam Walkers defence

    Underrated.

I think his technique and guts are great, he is just too small to constantly be run at.

Definitely has improved since last season. I'm growing in confidence about him landing more conversions too.

He does look stronger, wouldn't mind him having one last growth spurt

Very much so. For a 83kg teenager his defence is holding up great. Add another 8-10kgs onto his 6ft frame and he will be complete because he has hard part already covered- great technique and fearless

He's got plenty of clock and give him another 3 pre seasons he will put on 10kg and that's when we will see the best of him. It doesn't help his cause when he has Sitili defending next to him but it is what it is.

You've all said it well, he has definitely improved his defence, alongside his goal-kicking. Well done Sam, it's clear you're a gem.

Will be interesting to see how he handles Talakai. He will run at Sammy all game.

haven't checked all the stats but there have been games this season when his defensive stats have been the best of all the backs.
personally i think he's ready for origin. obviously dce and munster are ahead of him but if one of them goes down he'd be ahead of walsh as a half.

31 missed tackles might be alright if you've made a lot of tackles. % is the important figure.
in the game v broncos, with 81% tackle efficiency, walker was our best defender of the backs.

He's been improving but still has lots of improving.

Not surprised by his low tackle % and high mistackle count.

More surprised by Manu's mistackle count. A byproduct of defending near Walker perhaps?
