Why is Walker kicking?

Not the performance we wanted on the weekend and although we only had two effectively meaningless shots at goal it appears Sam Walker will be our kicker again this season. My question is why? I love Sammy but he is just not up to being an NRL kicker, from the sideline he's 50/50 to make the distance and virtually a zero percent chance of actually kicking the goal. Maybe in a few years after some leg work he will be a top kicker, but right now when Momirovski is in the run on side surely he is the safer bet?

While i would like to see Momirovski as our first string kicker to be honest though he has only kicked 21 goals in his first grade career.

Still though, at least he is a 65-70% kicker. Walker has been kicking for almost a full year and has never looked like kicking sideline shots.

That suggests a lack of opportunity. He did have Cleary and Smith ahead of him his previous 2 seasons.

He must be kicking them at training , but it's very different in a game when you are tackling guys 20 to 30 kgs heavier than you and have to step up to kick one from the sideline.
It's pretty clear that we have to give it to someone else.

mate he has got to get a hang of it from now not in two years time etc..Think of Cleary when he came on ...he got smashed was shit etc but a good eye would tell you he would be one of the best..If I had a dollar every time I wa stold Cleary was shit I would be able to buy uncle Nick 300 souvlakia .

Robbo said that Walker has gained an extra 5 metres of distance in his goal kicking over the off season, now that he has the distance he just needs to work on his line.

Robbo is obviously backing him so that’s good enough for me

Other than the penalty goal from in front, he had one shot from the corner right sideline on his weak side, and you’ve come to a conclusion just from that? Things change in the off season. Clear Trent has confident in him. Baffled you’re making a statement like that after on kick from a sideline after 77 minutes.

I would have someone else kick and let Walker concentrate on his game - I would have Walker at half and Keary at 5/8 too
