  • Mitchell vs Mortimer

When I first saw Mitchell play in the All Stars match last year I though Mitchell was quite a prospect but since then he has failed to excite me at all and I actually think Mortimer is a far better attacking option to have on the bench.

Mitchell doesnt bring much to the table tbh.

Even though Daniel Anderson makes Brian Smith look competent, he did pick Daniel Mortimer as the first choice half for a reason.

Anthony Mitchell will be the Riley Brown of 2012.

Was interesting to hear Smith say that Mortimer was told he wouldn't be playing a day before the game. Looks like Mitchell is first choice.

I didn't think he was that bad, there was a few occasions when he made back to back to back tackles from marker which really helped out the forwards and he got out of dummy half really well for JWH's try.

Looks like he's learnt how to pass off the ground in the off-season, or at least he is more urgent in getting the ball from ruck to player.

I'm a massive fan of Dumbrell but yesterday gave me some optimism about Mitchell...

Niether should be in the strongest 17.

If we are talking about a bench spot that will fill the rake position, like Mitchell did last night, then it has to be mitchell. Although morts played well he isn't a rake n doesn't posess those skills. I actually thought mitchell did some good thing whilst on the field for the short time he was there. I haven't been a fan, but I am warming to the guy.

Totally agree with everything u said, Mitchell is electric off the mark and puts a lot of pressure on the opposition with his speed...he will only get bigger and better

I agree with you - not a fan of the Ant at all.

Interesting what we all see. I thought Ant had a great game against souffs. Picked up our teams tempo in attack and was tenacious in defence. I will take the Ant over Mortein.

I'm fence sitting. I'm so proud of all of our young players at the moment so I won't take sides amongst the ranks.

We all see things differently but for me Mitchell wins hands down.

Hopefully both play a part in us hopefully making the semis.

Smiff will use horses for courses, as he always has. Then injury, suspension and rep duty will influence their rotation.

Thats why we have a 25 man squad.

IMO MitchMitchell suits the 9 role whereas Mortein suits the extra halve role. I won't be shocked to see them often both be in the 17.

I say we would gain more but having Bosden or Takairangi coming off the bench, and Friend playing the 80 at hooker.
